Position Recreation Supervisor Reports To Residential Manager Department Recreation
FLSA STATUS
Salary Non-Exempt Primary Position Objectives Monitor and direct students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on- and off-center in compliance with government and management directives. Provide direct supervision of Recreation Aides.
Position Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Brief Description of Duties Administration Procedures Annual Salary:
$52,997-$52,998 Establish and operate a Center-wide diversified recreation program Monitor activities for individuals and groups to include tournament competition and varsity and intramural competition for the athletic-minded students Provide oversight of plans for recreations activities for students not participating in athletic events Supervise the development of instructional programs to teach students new skills and to improve existing skills Monitor the scheduling and development of various clubs and special interest groups and individual activities for handicapped students Approve requisitions for recreational equipment, supplies and materials Oversee the maintenance of recreational equipment, both indoor and outdoor Work cooperatively with entire Center staff in the solution of students' problems Ensure contacts with outside sources for recreational activities are maintained Serve as the Center's source of information for recreational activities for students, ensuring continuous outgoing development of materials and knowledge about this part of the program Provide media, bulletin boards and memoranda to inform students, as well as staff, of the programs to be held at the Center Interview students to determine what type of recreational activities would be most suitable Create an environment wherein students and staff feel safe and secure Submit required reports to the appropriate department head Maintain a safe, respectful environment Submit time sheets and other paperwork timely and according to center policy Assist and train student leaders per center policy; Work closely with the SGA program Assist in the management and operation of the student café Recognize and reinforce positive behavior with staff and students Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement Evaluate personnel under his/her management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions, promotions and/or merit increases Assist the Center Director in meeting the goals and objectives of the Center Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection's core values and operating principles Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, LifeSkills Connection's policies and procedures, and Center policies and procedures Participate in PRH mandated staff training; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination Perform other duties as assigned Position Competencies Key Competencies Performance Standards/Results Effective Communication Present information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information Very high standard of communication skills, both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideas Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend Organization of Work Action-oriented; Demonstrate the ability to handle several projects simultaneously with decision making, flexibility, and problem-solving Implement the key principles of time management, task allocation, and priority assignment in addition to personal organization Show attention to detail and the ability to complete work with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency Continually seek ways to improve employment service provided via the development of professional skills and personal growth Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communications skills Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel Experience Minimum of one to two years related experience with youth Education Bachelor's degree in physical education or related field. Two years' experience in supervising recreation/non- vocational programs, including athletics, sports and crafts, music, and drama Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be certified, licensed, or accredited in state of employment, or accredited by professional trade organization Valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
