This includes development and oversight of community swim programs for youth and adults, day school water safety lessons, and maintaining a partnership with the American Red Cross. Additionally, the Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics will be responsible for administering training opportunities to certify and develop lifeguards and swim instructors. The ideal candidate should be team-oriented with exceptional leadership and collaboration skills. ;
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $80,000. Xiong, talent management specialist, with any questions: ; Responsibilities Coordinate instructional programs year-round, at multiple locations for the Aquatics program. Establish partnerships with other MPS departments, schools, governmental units, agencies, and community-based organizations to develop quality aquatics programs throughout the City of Milwaukee with a focus on our new community center. Maintain a safe pool environment. Be familiar with pool operations, water testing, backwashing, and basic pool maintenance. Conduct regular site visits to aquatics programs to ensure program quality. Plan and conduct staff in-services and trainings. Order supplies and maintain inventory of program materials. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff. Evaluate the effectiveness of program operations and update program content to ensure it is relevant to participant needs and interests. Assists in preparing and coordinating promotional materials to generate interest and growth in participation. Collaborates on facility scheduling to ensure the appropriate amount of space is reserved for program activities. Assists with Recreation Department activities as needed. Serves on various community or employee committees as required and assigned. Supports the Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation Strategic Plans. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor¿s Degree preferred from an accredited college or university in parks, recreation, and tourism management; community sports management; education, or related field. Minimum one (1) year of full-time aquatics experience in urban recreation.
Without a degree:
5 years of directly related full-time urban recreation experience. Maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, LGI (Lifeguard Instructor) and WSIT (Water Safety Instructor Trainer). Certificate in either CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or AFO (Aquatics Facility Operator), or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date.
