Job Description

General Manager / Operational Leader Quiriego Restaurant — Scottsdale, Arizona Full-Time | Senior Restaurant Leadership About Quiriego Quiriego is an upscale Mexican restaurant in Scottsdale built around elevated hospitality, refined Mexican cuisine, craft cocktails, a full-service bar, coffee, bakery offerings, and a distinctive guest experience. We are building Quiriego with the intention of becoming a recognized destination in the Scottsdale dining community. To accomplish that, we are looking for a General Manager who can operate as the true day-to-day leader of the restaurant . This is not simply a position for someone who can manage a shift. We are looking for someone who can run the business. The Role The General Manager will have responsibility for the overall operation and performance of Quiriego. You will work directly with ownership and the culinary leadership team to build a disciplined, hospitality-driven operation where employees are well trained, managers are accountable, guests receive consistently exceptional service, and financial performance is actively managed. The right candidate will be equally comfortable walking the dining room during a busy Saturday night, coaching an employee, reviewing labor reports, analyzing a P&L, resolving a guest concern, meeting with a vendor, improving an operating system, or discussing restaurant performance with ownership. We want someone who sees the restaurant as a complete business — not simply a collection of shifts. What You Will Own Restaurant Operations You will take ownership of the restaurant's daily operation and ensure Quiriego consistently performs at a high level.
Responsibilities include:
Leading all front-of-house operations and coordinating closely with back-of-house leadership. Maintaining a strong leadership presence during service. Ensuring opening, closing, side work, sanitation, and operating procedures are consistently followed. You will:
Recruit, hire, train, coach, develop, and retain high-performing employees. Develop supervisors and managers into stronger leaders. Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable. Conduct regular performance conversations and employee evaluations. Lead productive pre-shift meetings. Address performance issues quickly, professionally, and consistently. Recognize strong employees and create opportunities for development. Build a culture centered around professionalism, hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and respect. We are looking for a leader who understands that restaurant culture is created by what management consistently teaches, reinforces, and allows. Guest Experience Quiriego is designed around hospitality. The General Manager must be highly visible in the restaurant and personally engaged with the guest experience.
You will:
Monitor service standards throughout every shift. Interact with guests and build relationships with regular customers. Resolve guest concerns professionally and decisively. Coach employees on hospitality, menu knowledge, service technique, and attention to detail. Review guest feedback and identify recurring opportunities for improvement. Maintain the level of service expected from an upscale Scottsdale restaurant. Financial Performance The General Manager must understand the business behind the restaurant. Holds people accountable respectfully. Develops employees rather than simply replacing them. Maintains high standards even when ownership is not present. Is organized and disciplined. Does not tolerate toxic behavior, poor attitudes, or chronic underperformance. Treats employees professionally. Understands that leadership requires both accountability and respect. Guest problems are handled quickly. Communication between the kitchen and front of house is strong. Financial reports are reviewed and acted upon. Operational problems are identified early. Employees continue developing. Guests want to return. Ownership does not need to personally manage every detail of the restaurant because the General Manager has built a dependable operation. Working Relationship With Ownership Quiriego is an owner-operated concept. The General Manager will work closely with ownership, particularly as the restaurant continues establishing its systems, culture, and identity. We are looking for someone who welcomes that relationship. The ideal candidate will communicate openly about: Restaurant performance Staffing Labor Guest experience Financial results Operational challenges Employee performance Vendor issues Maintenance needs Opportunities for improvement We value managers who bring solutions, recommendations, and ideas — not simply problems. As trust and performance are demonstrated, the goal is for the General Manager to have significant responsibility and autonomy over the restaurant's day-to-day operation. Schedule This is a senior hospitality leadership position and requires schedule flexibility. Candidates should expect to work during the periods when leadership is most important, including: Evenings Weekends Holidays High-volume services Special events This is not intended to mean unnecessary hours. We believe strong systems and a capable management team should allow leadership to operate effectively without creating an unsustainable work environment. However, the General Manager must be present when the business requires leadership. Compensation Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation and benefits may be discussed during the interview process. Why Quiriego? This role offers an opportunity to help shape a restaurant rather than simply inherit an established corporate system. The person selected for this position will have the opportunity to: Build a management culture. Develop operating systems. Help establish service standards. Build and develop the restaurant team. Work directly with ownership. Influence how Quiriego operates as the brand continues to grow. Become an important part of the long-term development of the concept. We are looking for someone who takes pride in building exceptional restaurants and wants their impact to be visible in the operation.
