In person About the Role GL Restaurant & Entertainment Group is recruiting Restaurant Manager Trainees for Gao's BBQ & Crab across seven locations. This position is based at the restaurant location listed in this posting. Initial training takes place in Texas. This opportunity is designed for candidates with supervisory or management experience who want to develop into a Restaurant Manager. You will begin by learning Shift Lead responsibilities and company operating standards through training in Texas. This is a hands-on, floor-based role requiring active team leadership, employee support, and practical problem-solving. Training, Compensation & Career Development Training Stage Training takes place in Texas and is expected to last three weeks. Base pay during training is $4,000 per month. Candidates who need additional time may receive a one-week training extension and reassessment. If the candidate does not pass the reassessment, the company may offer a Shift Lead position at $4,000 per month, subject to suitability and mutual agreement, or discontinue employment. Manager-in-Training Stage After passing the training assessment, you will enter a three-month introductory and evaluation period as a Manager-in-Training. This period begins on the first day of the calendar month following successful completion of training. Base pay increases to $6,000 per month on that date. Until then, the $4,000 monthly rate continues to apply. The company will assess your operational performance, leadership, reliability, and readiness to independently manage the restaurant. Completion of three months does not automatically guarantee confirmation as Restaurant Manager. Bonus Eligibility No bonuses are available during training or the three-month introductory period. After successfully completing the three-month evaluation and being confirmed as Restaurant Manager, you will become eligible to participate in the company's manager bonus program, subject to its terms. Base pay remains $6,000 per month. Bonuses are not guaranteed. Training Travel Candidates must be available to attend training in Texas. The company will arrange meals and lodging during the training period. Candidates must purchase their training airfare upfront. Airfare will be reimbursed after successfully completing training and one full month of work following training. Initial Responsibilities Learn opening, closing, shift handovers, and pre-shift briefing procedures. Coordinate front-of-house and kitchen teams to maintain food quality, timely service, cleanliness, and food safety. Assign duties, coordinate breaks, and adjust staffing coverage according to guest volume. Train and coach employees through hands-on demonstrations and feedback. Address guest concerns within your authority and escalate serious issues. Monitor proper POS use and cash handling, document irregularities, and maintain accurate shift records. Restaurant Management Responsibilities As you progress through training and receive management authority, your responsibilities will include: Oversee daily restaurant operations and take responsibility for sales goals, service standards, and operating results. Prepare employee schedules and manage staffing coverage, working hours, overtime, and labor costs. Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance coaching in accordance with company procedures. Address attendance, conduct, and employee performance issues. Monitor front-of-house operations, kitchen execution, cleanliness, food safety, and equipment safety. Manage purchasing, inventory, product availability, waste, and food costs. Review sales, discounts, refunds, cash records, and POS discrepancies. Resolve escalated guest complaints and report significant incidents. Develop and supervise Shift Leads, review daily records, and ensure effective handovers. Identify operational problems, implement improvements, and report results to company leadership. Qualifications Supervisory or management experience in restaurants, retail, or another customer-facing business. Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and employee-training skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, organize staffing, and solve problems in a busy environment. Understanding of labor costs, inventory control, cash handling, and daily operating procedures. Comfortable using POS systems and reviewing operating reports. A hands-on approach, accountability, and willingness to learn company standards. Mandarin proficiency is preferred, but not required, to support communication with Mandarin-speaking team members and company leadership. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and closing shifts. Ability to attend training in Texas and work on-site at the restaurant location listed in this posting. Legally authorized to work in the United States.
