Kitchen Manager / Assistant General Manager HoneyPop's Bar & Grill | Anderson, Missouri HoneyPop's is searching for a hands-on Kitchen Manager / Assistant General Manager with proven experience controlling food costs, managing labor, and leading a high-volume kitchen. Now we need an experienced leader who can help take our kitchen and daily operations to the next level. The Position This is a combined kitchen leadership and restaurant management position. Your primary responsibility will be improving kitchen performance, food consistency, labor efficiency, and cost controls. You will also serve as an Assistant General Manager, helping lead the entire restaurant during service and supporting front-of-house operations when needed. This is not a desk-management position. We need someone who can build systems, lead people, inspect the work, and step directly into operations when necessary. Primary Responsibilities Lead and organize daily back-of-house operations Work alongside current restaurant leadership to improve performance Monitor and actively control food-cost and labor percentages Build kitchen schedules based on projected sales and business volume Adjust staffing when sales do not support scheduled labor Complete accurate inventory counts and investigate variances Manage ordering, receiving, storage, rotation, and product usage Enforce recipes, portion sizes, presentation, and preparation standards Reduce over-portioning, spoilage, waste, unauthorized food, and unnecessary purchasing Improve prep planning, station readiness, ticket times, and food consistency Ensure kitchen employees remain productive throughout their shifts Train, coach, document, and hold team members accountable Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food-safety standards Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and employee development Lead the restaurant during assigned management shifts Support front-of-house leadership and guest recovery when necessary Communicate results, problems, and action plans clearly with ownership Step into prep, expo, line, or service positions when leadership is needed What We Are Looking For Proven kitchen management or restaurant management experience Strong understanding of food cost, inventory, purchasing, and recipe costing Proven ability to schedule and control labor based on sales Experience managing a high-volume commercial kitchen Ability to identify where money is being lost and correct the problem Confidence reading sales, labor, purchasing, and operational reports Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills High standards for cleanliness, consistency, and accountability Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and peak service periods A hands-on mentality with the ability to follow through without constant supervision How Success Will Be Measured Food-cost performance Kitchen labor percentage Inventory accuracy Waste and purchasing controls Recipe and portion consistency Prep completion and station readiness Ticket times and food quality Kitchen cleanliness and organization Staff accountability and development Overall restaurant profitability Why HoneyPop's?
