Job Description

We are looking for (1)
SPECIAL & UNIQUE
individual to be the HEART of our school - one person, one kitchen, full ownership of how the food gets made. A commercial kitchen of your own. Home every night by dinner. You'd be cooking from scratch for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years, in a full commercial kitchen that you run. You plan it, you order for it, you keep it the way you want it. No line, no ticket rail, no closing at midnight. The schedule is the part most cooks tell us they can't find anywhere else: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., tentatively Every night and every weekend off. No dinner rush, no doubles, no on-call Year-round, consistent hours — this isn't a school-calendar job that disappears in June Paid company holidays and paid time off If you have been cooking in restaurants and are tired of what that does to your life, this is the trade: same craft, a kitchen you control, and your evenings back. What you'd do: Plan and cook the daily menu — breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack — meeting child nutrition standards Post monthly menus and manage the system for children's food allergies Determine daily meal counts and get food out to each classroom in a timely manner Run weekly inventory and order food and supplies within a nominal budget Keep the kitchen and all equipment clean, organized, and inspection-ready at all times Meet every state, local health department, and licensing requirement Be willing to step in to help elsewhere in the school, occasionally What you need: 2+ years of food service and commercial kitchen experience Food Handler's or Food Manager Certification (we'll help you keep it current) 18 or older, high school diploma or GED Reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver's license Ability to pass a Texas DFPS background check Genuinely enjoy being around kids — you'll see the same faces every day, and they will absolutely tell you what they thought of lunch Helpful, but we'll train you: experience in a licensed child care or school kitchen, knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards and FDA regulations, CPR and First Aid (we certify you), and comfort driving a 14-passenger bus or our van for occasional store runs and field trips.
What we offer:
$15 - $18 per hour , based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and paid company holidays Discount on child care tuition for your own kids Paid training, including CPR and First Aid certification Referral program A leadership team that has been here a while, an open door, and a kitchen that is yours How to apply: Apply through this posting. We read every application and respond quickly — if you've cooked for kids before, tell us about it. We are an equal opportunity employer.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Benefits:
