Job Description

Assistant Manager Prairie House Food & Spirits Prairie House Food & Spirits is looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager to join our team! We are looking for someone who wants to work alongside our team, lead by example, and be involved in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant. This is a working management position. The Assistant Manager will help oversee daily restaurant operations, inventory, ordering, food quality, cleanliness, staffing, and overall standards. You will be expected to jump in wherever you are needed and help keep the restaurant running smoothly. Responsibilities Oversee and manage all restaurant ordering, including receiving and organizing deliveries. Maintain accurate inventory of food, beverages, supplies, and other restaurant products. Monitor inventory levels and communicate what needs to be ordered. Track and identify food waste, excessive usage, missing product, and items leaving the restaurant that should not be. Help control food costs and minimize unnecessary waste. Ensure all food leaving the kitchen is properly prepared, presented, portioned, and meets Prairie House standards. Monitor food quality and presentation throughout every shift. Make sure kitchen and restaurant employees are following proper food handling and cleanliness procedures. Ensure daily, weekly, and closing cleaning duties are being completed. Hold employees accountable for cleanliness, food quality, service, and following restaurant procedures. Jump into whatever position is needed when we are short staffed. Friday and Saturday availability is required. During the week, work scheduled shifts in the restaurant, including kitchen and/or bartending shifts as needed. Assist with staffing and scheduling needs. Help train new employees and reinforce restaurant procedures and expectations. Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional, team-oriented work environment. Assist the General Manager/owners with the overall operation of the restaurant. Handle problems and make decisions during shifts to keep operations running smoothly. Help ensure guests receive a consistent experience and that Prairie House standards are maintained at all times. What We Are Looking For Restaurant management or leadership experience preferred Hands-on and willing to work Reliable and dependable Strong leadership and communication skills Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working in both the front and back of the house Able to work well under pressure in a busy restaurant environment Willing to jump in and help wherever needed Takes pride in food quality, cleanliness, service, and organization Available to work Fridays and Saturdays Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed This Is a Working Manager Position When the kitchen is short, you work in the kitchen. When the bar needs help, you bartend. When the restaurant needs cleaning, you clean. When we're busy, you jump in and help. You will have management responsibilities, but you will also be an active part of the team and expected to lead by example.
