  • Early Childhood Center offers an opportunity to support the nutritional needs of students by leading day-to-day food service operations for the ECC.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have strong organizational and communication skills, and have a passion for promoting healthy eating habits among young students. The Leader/Meal Server serves as the main point of contact for ECC kitchen operations, coordinating orders, deliveries, and service while supporting a safe and hygienic food service environment. This position is posted for five (5) days, per agreement with AFSCME. Responsibilities Adhere to all Hygiene and Uniform Guidelines at all times. Serve as the point of contact and lead for all things ECC School Food Service related, including caterings and set-ups. Serve as Assistant Lead responsible for all kitchen information/communication, orders, deliveries, and correct procedures for the building. Prep, stock, and appropriately prepare for breakfast service. Follow the daily menu/production record, placing orders and stocking appropriately for assigned station. Complete temperature tracking three times daily on the production record, filling it out completely. Enter ECC breakfast and lunch meals into the POS System. Adhere to and follow all cash handling procedures and complete cash reconciliation. Receive lunch counts and communicate counts with the High School kitchen by 9:00 AM. Engage students with smiles, promotions, and willingness to serve, with the goal of maintaining and increasing participation. Receive stock and work together with the team to maintain appropriate inventory; complete monthly inventory. Complete daily prep for lunch service for ECC rooms; coordinate with principals/directors as needed. Submit purchasing requests/orders as needed. Wash dishes between lunch periods as time allows or at the end of lunch. Prep food for the following day; close and lock the kitchen, turning off equipment as needed. Calibrate thermometers weekly. Adhere to all "safety pledge" policies. Utilize appropriate knife techniques; must wear "cut resistant" glove. Receive stock using FIFO to maintain appropriate inventory; complete monthly inventory. Work as a team with colleagues, administration, students, and/or customers. Attend additional training and meetings as required; retrieve missed information. Develop mise en place. Perform other duties as assigned or changed to meet the needs of the district. No personal cell phone or earbud use permitted during working shift hours. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in food service or a related field is a plus but not required. Meal Magic POS Cashier Training and ServSafe Certification required. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to serve as a point of contact for kitchen operations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Must pass a background check and any required health screenings. Work Schedule Monday

Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to the full length of a shift. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel to access supplies, ovens, and storage areas. Manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, and dishwashers. Tolerance for exposure to varying kitchen temperatures, including heat from ovens/stoves and cold from walk-in coolers/freezers. Ability to work around hot surfaces, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals while following proper safety precautions. Ability to stand on tile or non-slip flooring for extended periods, sometimes in wet conditions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor food safety, equipment operation, and student needs.
