Job Description

This Inn is located on
Cumberland Island, GA Shift Details:
Saturdays (as needed), Sundays, Mondays, 9:30am-4:15pm Opportunity for extra hours for holidays, big events, such as weddings, buyouts, etc. Depart Fernandina Beach Marina on the 9:30AM Greyfield Inn's Ferry, depart Cumberland on 3:30PM Ferry 6.5 hour shift, with roughly 30 min boat rides to and from the island. Shift starts on the boat, this time is used for studying, scheduling, and communicating with guests. Schedule is subject to change with notice based on staffing needs, guest count, holidays, events, etc.
Purpose of Role:
We offer our guests a variety of guided Island tours every day, with something to interest everyone, from history buffs to botanists. Most of the tours require driving our naturalist's truck on the way to view the secrets of
Cumberland:
historical ruins, wild horses, and lush maritime forest. These tours can take up to 12 guests, each lasting between 1 hour to 3 hours depending on the tour and road conditions. This role requires studying under our head naturalist and learning how to conduct our tours. The main ones being, Plum Orchard, Dungeness Ruins, and our North End tour. This position also requires learning our kayaking, birding, nature walks, and fossiling tours.
Qualifications:
The right candidate is cool in an emergency and is first aid and CPR certified. They must be comfortable standing for long period of time, speaking extensively about the island history and natural environments, must have a clean driving record, maintaining good relationships with the National Park's volunteers and employees, and able to lift at least 30 pounds. We require candidates to have a 4 year degree in an area relevant to the sciences or history, or working experience in these fields. A valid driver's license is mandatory for this position. This is a guest service focused role, and requires candidates to have experience in customer service. Candidates with a teaching background are highly encouraged to apply.
