Responsibilities Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage reservations using restaurant booking systems such as OpenTable or similar platforms. Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and answer initial questions about the menu offerings. Clear and reset tables efficiently between guests to maintain a clean and inviting dining area. Deliver food orders from the kitchen to tables promptly while ensuring accuracy and presentation standards are met. Assist servers by bussing tables, refilling beverages, and supporting food delivery during busy service times. Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, including sweeping floors, wiping surfaces, and proper dishwashing procedures to uphold food safety standards. Handle guest inquiries with professionalism using excellent phone etiquette and in-person customer service skills. Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation or meal assembly when needed. Manage order taking accurately using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, including cash handling when necessary. Uphold food handling safety protocols and assist with dietary accommodations to ensure guest safety and satisfaction. Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming environment that promotes guest relations and hospitality excellence. Experience Previous experience as a host/hostess or in a customer service role within a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key! Familiarity with food service operations including order taking, serving, dishwashing, and beverage preparation enhances your ability to succeed in this role. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and managing POS systems confidently. Experience with catering events or delivery driving can be advantageous but is not mandatory. Strong communication skills coupled with friendly phone etiquette will help you connect effectively with guests and team members alike. Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures ensures a safe environment for everyone.
