Benefits Staff Assistant Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) - 4.0 Oak Brook, IL Job Details $43,323 - $47,655 a year 9 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Qualifications Computer operation Productivity software Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Internal applicants must apply by 9/11/2026 Summary This position provides administrative support to the Benefits department along with primary responsibility for processing Separation Refunds and Voluntary Additional Refunds. This position reports directly to the Benefits Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Entry of Termination Forms, Refund Applications, Voluntary Additional Refund Applications, and Retirement Applications (as necessary). Process incoming packages/general requests/child cases such as (banking workflows, ect) Contact other IMRF departments to obtain information, and request assistance to resolve internal conditions preventing automated payment of refunds. Assist other departments to process manually any refund that cannot be paid systematically. Contact employers, members, and financial institutions to resolve external pending conditions preventing automated payment of refunds. Process manually any refund that cannot be paid systematically. Support the Department by preparing both freeform and template letters as needed. Prepare any other overnight and certified mailings as necessary. Interpret statistics and facts for senior management to prepare correspondence for the Benefit Review Committee. Provide support to the Benefits Department examiner staff as requested. Maintain a work in progress that meets the service goals established by the Benefits Manager including daily maintenance of Work Manager, pending claim lists, work queues, etc. Maintain information as needed to provide senior management and the Board with a report of Benefit Review Activities. Create and utilize monthly system reports to prepare department reports for the Benefits Manage, Fax/Upload Reciprocal Certifications to reciprocal funds. Assigned as the Key User for the Benefits department to obtain office supplies and make purchase requisitions for business materials. Other duties that may be assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite. Must also have the ability and computer literacy to learn and use new and evolving systems necessary to execute essential duties and tasks Benefits and Salary The expected annual salary range for this role is $43,323 - $47,655. Please note the salary information is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of IMRF's total compensation package for employees. Other factors include the following benefits: Pension, death, and disability benefits as a member of IMRF Generous insurance benefits, including medical and dental 35-hour base work week, Monday-Friday.
