Job Summary The University of Michigan, seeks a creative, innovative, and thoughtful person to join its Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office (ECRT). The successful candidate's primary responsibilities are to review and assess allegations of discrimination and harassment based on protected classes, including sexual and gender-based misconduct and claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The candidate may also resolve matters where appropriate, including holding conversations with individuals and/or units on ECRT matters. Regular in-person presence is required and this position is based onsite at our office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Essential:
Review and Report Resolutions (75%) Review and respond to complaints of civil rights discrimination and harassment, including protected class issues, sexual and gender-based misconduct, and disability-related concerns. Conduct reviews and gather, assess, and analyze information. Draft clear and concise internal memorandum and summary reports. Conduct climate assessments. Hold informational conversations to resolve matters as appropriate. Communicate about concerns and policies to involved parties through email and conversations. Communication and Collaboration (10%) Effectively communicate and collaborate with campus partners and colleagues in addressing concerns of discrimination and harassment through consultations, written memorandum, and in other manners. Administrative and Other Duties (10%) Maintain complete and accurate files and records, including documentation in ECRT's database. Education and Training (5%) Provide training and consultation on matters related to civil rights discrimination and harassment and sexual and gender-based misconduct to individuals, departments, and/or units on campus and at Michigan Medicine.

Performs related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree 0-2 yrs of relevant experience investigating, responding to, and analyzing all forms of harassment and discrimination High productivity in a fast-paced environment with prescriptive timelines Ability to effectively assess and respond to all forms of harassment and discrimination as outlined in university policy Knowledge of, experience working with, and ability to apply relevant federal and state civil rights laws, regulations, and guidance Ability to provide support in the implementation of UM policies and procedures related to civil rights compliance Ability to resolve matters promptly and effectively Ability to prioritize tasks, including managing multiple matters while meeting deadlines Ability to provide consulting, educational programming, and to identify resources to promote a welcoming, supportive, inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a manner consistent with the university's mission and culture Commitment to work outside of regular business hours on occasion, if needed. This may include email response, sending outreach materials, etc. on weekends or evenings Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills Competence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, Adobe, Dropbox, and Databases Modes of Work Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
