Job Description

This internship consists of various Human Resources functions. The purpose of this position is to allow the Intern to gain valuable insight and experience into Municipal Government Human Resources. The following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or logical assignments for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Specific duties listed may not be required for all positions in this classification, but are determined by the normal requirements for this particular position.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
(100%) P repare new hire orientation packets. A ssist with maintenance of employee files. A ssist with recruitment and benefit related functions. P rovide administrative support to the Human Resources Department. A udit employee files to meet compliance standards. A ssist with Public Safety Promotional Process development and implementation. P articipate and assist with special HR projects. M ust act discretely when working with highly confidential Human Resources information. A ttend HR Department meetings as needed. A ttends job fairs and hiring events. O ther tasks/projects assigned by Human Resources Director. U ndergraduate students and graduate students will be considered. S trong interest in Human Resources. C oursework in Human Resources/Organizational Psychology. E xcellent verbal and written communication skills. S t rong communication, organizational, analytical, relationship building. A ttention to detail and teamwork skills required. P roficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), ADP HRIS a plus. A bility to maintain confidentiality. A bility to prioritize and execute tasks independently. M ust be well organized and possess good follow-up skills. P rior office experience preferred. P leasant personality with the ability to interact well with other team members. M ust be available for a minimum of twenty (20) hours a week. The following requirements are normal for this classification. J ob duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear. J ob candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress. J ob duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
City of Prattville employees are required to obtain knowledge of the City of Prattville Policies and Procedures, and knowledge of their specific department rules, policies, and procedures. S kill in interpersonal relations. S kill in the provision of customer services. S kill in oral and written communication. S kill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
