Workforce Coordinator Position Description Primary purpose The Anokiiwin Workforce Coordinator provides workforce development, career planning, outreach, recruitment, intake, eligibility screening, and case management services that assist participants in achieving education, training, and employment goals. The Workforce Coordinator helps participants identify strengths, interests, barriers, and career pathways; connects them to employment, education, training, and supportive services; and builds relationships with funders, community partners and employers to increase access to meaningful work opportunities. Duties and responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the NWICDC team to develop and deliver education, career planning, employment readiness, and workforce development services that support participant goals.
  • Conduct community outreach and recruitment activities to develop and promote workforce development services, increase program awareness, and engage eligible participants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, community organizations, service providers, educational institutions, employers, and other partners to support participant recruitment, referrals, and successful outcomes.
  • Meet with prospective participants to explain available services, assess needs, complete orientations and intakes, and determine eligibility according to program, funding, and organizational guidelines.
  • Provide career planning, employment readiness, job search assistance, and connections to education, training, employment, and supportive services.
  • Administer assessments and use appropriate tools to evaluate participant skills, educational functioning levels, progress, and service needs.
  • Support a thorough case management process by maintaining accurate participant files, eligibility documentation, case notes, service records, and ongoing participant documentation.
  • Maintain required data systems, records, and reports, including outreach activities, events, participant counts, achievements, challenges, outcomes, and other information required for program compliance.
  • Reach assigned monthly program goals and outcomes and report progress according to funding and organizational requirements.
  • Monitor program outcomes, evaluate participant needs, recommend improvements, and participate in team meetings to support quality improvement.
  • Support participants facing barriers to employment through individualized guidance, training opportunities, referrals, and employment services, with attention to high-wage, high-demand, and non-traditional career pathways.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and knowledge required
  • College degree or equivalent experience in business education, workforce development, human services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in career planning, employment services, workforce development, case management, participant outreach, or a related field.
  • Experience providing career development, employment readiness, outreach, intake, eligibility screening, and referral services to diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of local high-demand trades, industries, employers, training opportunities, and supportive service resources preferred.
  • Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Anishinaabe worldviews and values, or the willingness to learn and incorporate them into practice.
  • Ability to interact positively with participants, community members, employers, partners, and the public.
  • Ability to plan, implement, monitor, and improve quality programs and services.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, listening, speaking, outreach, and presentation skills.
  • Consistent, dependable, enthusiastic, flexible, and able to follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Understanding and use of current educational and workforce development practices, including career counseling and employment preparation strategies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team and maintain a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, maintain accurate documentation, and meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
