Clinical Assistant/Staffing Coordinator

Job Description

The Clinical Assistant works as part of the Patient Care Team to provide professional, team-based clinical and administrative support in a healthcare setting. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, the Clinical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of quality, patient-centered medical care within the context of a federally qualified community health center (FQHC). The position provides administrative and clinical support to the CMO and DON in the coordination of clinical operations, scheduling, quality initiatives, staff competencies, certifications, and other clinical activities across SDHS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Communicates with patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner and addresses questions and needs with sensitivity to patient confidentiality, cultural diversity, and individualized requirements for assistance. 2. Takes initiative and accepts accountability as a patient advocate and promotes patient satisfaction. 3. Assists with patient care duties to include prior authorizations and telephone encounters. 4. Documents all clinical activities and patient interactions in eClinicalWorks (eCW). 5. Maintains and coordinates the SDHS master schedule for provider and nursing staff across all locations. 6. Maintains provider and nursing schedules in eClinicalWorks (eCW) and assists with ensuring schedules accurately reflect staffing, time off, meetings, training, and other clinical activities. 7. Coordinates and tracks time-off requests for provider and nursing staff in collaboration with the CMO, DON, and appropriate supervisors. 8. Places schedule blocks for meetings, in-services, training, administrative time, and other clinical activities. 9. Assists with the onboarding of new clinical employees and maintains accurate tracking of required competencies, training, and related clinical requirements. 10. Assists clinical leadership with quality improvement initiatives. 11. Assists with quarterly clinical chart audits, including preparation, tracking, documentation, and follow-up. 12. Coordinates BLS and ACLS certification and renewal requirements for applicable provider and nursing staff. 13. Coordinates and manages clinical supply ordering for all SDHS locations. 14. Assists with VaxCare inventory management, including inventory tracking, reconciliation, returns, and related documentation.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum of three (3) years of medical or clinical healthcare experience with current CNA certification or administrative Medical Assistant (AMA) certification or equivalent training preferred. 3. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical workflows. 4. Experience with electronic health records, preferably eClinicalWorks (eCW), preferred. 5. Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills. 6. Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively as part of a team.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
