Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and results-driven Human Resources Manager to oversee HR operations across two unionized hospital facilities. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious HR professional looking to expand their leadership responsibilities and advance their career within a dynamic healthcare organization. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on leader with strong employee and labor relations experience, sound knowledge of California employment laws, and the ability to navigate complex HR matters in a hospital environment. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, embraces challenges, demonstrates strong leadership potential, and is eager to grow professionally while making a meaningful impact across both facilities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment. Union experience required, including knowledge of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), grievance procedures, labor relations practices, and union-management interactions. Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws, wage and hour regulations, and HR compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Prior HR supervisory, management, or demonstrated team leadership experience. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to advise hospital leadership. Ability to independently manage competing priorities and support HR operations across two facilities. Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably ADP, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong initiative, adaptability, and a desire for professional growth and advancement. Must have the ability to meet essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee daily Human Resources operations across two hospital facilities, ensuring consistent policies, processes, and employee support. Serve as a trusted HR advisor to hospital executives, department directors, and management on employee relations, employment law, performance management, and organizational matters. Manage labor relations activities, including CBA interpretation, union grievances, disciplinary matters, and collaboration with corporate Labor Relations leadership. Conduct workplace investigations, resolve employee complaints, and provide guidance on corrective actions, employee performance, and termination decisions. Ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws, hospital policies, and applicable healthcare regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission requirements. Supervise and develop HR staff, ensuring operational efficiency, accountability, and high-quality service delivery. Partner with hospital leadership and Talent Acquisition to support recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, and employee retention. Collaborate with corporate Payroll, Benefits, and HR teams to address employee concerns, ensure accurate HR transactions, and support leave administration and workers' compensation processes. Oversee performance management processes, employee documentation, personnel records, and compliance with required training and credentialing standards. Maintain an active presence at both facilities, building strong relationships with employees, leadership, and union representatives. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve employee engagement, strengthen compliance, and implement organizational initiatives. Support the CHRO in executing strategic HR initiatives, policy standardization, operational improvements, and organizational development across both facilities.
