Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Human Resources Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and serves as the primary partner to managers across the organization on employee relations, performance management, workforce effectiveness, and policy execution. This role is responsible for ensuring HR processes are executed consistently, professionally, and in compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws. The HR Manager supervises HR team members and assigned support staff, provides guidance to leaders throughout the employee lifecycle, and works closely with the CPO to translate HR strategy into practical, day-to-day operations. The HR Manager also plays a key role in strengthening manager effectiveness and employee development by supporting training initiatives, reinforcing expectations, and promoting accountability throughout the organization. Key ResponsibilitiesHR Department Leadership & Operations Oversee the daily operations of the Human Resources department. Supervise and develop HR team members, including the HR Administrator, HR Coordinator, and assigned support staff. Provide workload direction, coaching, performance feedback, and accountability for HR team members. Coordinate work performed by virtual assistants and other third-party HR support resources as assigned. Ensure timely and accurate execution of HR processes, documentation, employee support, and service delivery standards. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement operational efficiencies within HR functions. Partner with the Chief People Officer to establish departmental priorities, goals, and performance measures. Manager Support & Accountability Serve as the primary point of contact for managers on HR-related questions, situations, and decisions. Provide real-time guidance regarding performance management, attendance, corrective action, employee relations, and policy interpretation. Ensure managers are consistently following established policies, documentation standards, and escalation procedures. Partner with leadership to improve decision-making quality and workforce management practices. Reinforce accountability and consistency across locations and departments. Employee Relations & Issue Resolution Lead and support employee relations matters in partnership with HR leadership. Conduct or coordinate investigations involving employee concerns, workplace conflicts, policy violations, and performance issues. Coach managers through corrective actions, difficult conversations, and conflict resolution. Identify trends and recurring issues and recommend proactive solutions to address root causes. Maintain thorough, accurate, and legally compliant documentation. Performance Management & Workforce Effectiveness Support organizational performance management initiatives and processes. Assist managers with goal setting, employee development planning, performance documentation, and feedback conversations. Monitor workforce trends including turnover, attendance, engagement, and performance concerns. Escalate significant risks and recommend corrective actions as appropriate. Help drive consistency in employee expectations, accountability, and performance standards across the organization. Learning & Development Support Partner with the Chief People Officer to support manager development and employee training initiatives. Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs. Reinforce training concepts through coaching, follow-up, and accountability measures. Identify manager and employee development needs and recommend learning opportunities. Support the creation and maintenance of training materials, job aids, resources, and reference guides. Contribute to initiatives that strengthen leadership capability and organizational effectiveness. Employee Development & Engagement Support initiatives focused on employee growth, development, and career progression. Partner with managers to identify development opportunities within their teams. Promote consistency in onboarding, training expectations, and role clarity. Reinforce organizational values and expectations through coaching and leadership support. Support programs aimed at improving employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. Compliance & Operational Alignment Ensure alignment between policies, procedures, and actual operational execution. Partner with HR team members to ensure accurate handling of employee records, leaves of absence, compliance requirements, and personnel documentation. Promote adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Support HR audits, reporting requirements, and compliance initiatives. Reinforce effective utilization of HR systems, documentation workflows, and department processes. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or
SHRM-SCP
certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience. Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance management, manager coaching, and HR operations. Experience supporting training, leadership development, or workforce development initiatives preferred. Healthcare and/or multi-site experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong working knowledge of California and federal employment laws. Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and support leaders at multiple levels of the organization. Strong conflict resolution and employee relations skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. High attention to detail and strong documentation practices. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms (Paylocity preferred). Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
