Mercaso is seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and support all HR functions in a fast-paced startup environment supporting warehouse, wholesale, and transportation operations. This role will be heavily focused on employee relations, compliance, and supporting a large non-exempt workforce. The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and English, thrives in an on-site operational setting, and brings strong experience partnering with frontline leaders.

Key Responsibilities include:

Employee Relations & Workforce Support Serve as primary point of contact for employee relations matters across a large non-exempt population Investigate and resolve employee concerns including attendance, performance, conduct, and policy violations Coach managers and supervisors on progressive discipline, documentation, and best practices Support conflict resolution and foster a positive workplace culture Compliance & HR Operations Ensure compliance with federal, state (California), and local employment laws and regulations Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation Support workers' compensation, leaves of absence, and accommodations Partner with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping and wage compliance Talent & Performance Management Support recruiting and onboarding for hourly and salaried roles Develop and implement training programs for supervisors and employees Support performance review processes and development planning Culture & Organizational Growth Help build HR processes and structure in a startup environment Drive engagement initiatives and retention strategies Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people strategy Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred) 4+ years of HR experience, preferably in warehouse, wholesale, logistics, transportation, or manufacturing environments Strong employee relations experience with large non-exempt/hourly populations Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment Bilingual fluent in Spanish and English (required) Solid knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable being on the floor with operations teams Strong communication, investigation, and problem-solving skills Ability to come onsite daily to Commerce, CA location Authorized to work in the US, now and in the future, without sponsorship Preferred Experience HR experience supporting warehouse operations or distribution centers Experience with multi-shift environments Work Environment Fully on-site in Commerce, CA (Monday-Friday) Fast-paced, operational setting working closely with frontline teams and leadership Why Join Us Opportunity to build and shape HR in a growing startup High-impact role supporting a large workforce Collaborative leadership team Competitive compensation and benefits Health insurance benefits & 401(k) Flexible paid time off Full-time Salaried Position, salary is budgeted $80,000 to $100,000 annually About Mercaso Mercaso was founded by two people who saw an industry in need of a revolution; starting by picking and delivering themselves, they set out to do right by customers.
