Human Resources Manager New Lanark Holdings | East Granby, CT | Full-Time, In-Person $75,000-$90,000/year, based on experience Lead HR for ~80 employees across two well-established CT businesses — three Grassroots Kitchen & Creamery locations and five Meineke automotive service centers. This role reports directly to ownership, with real autonomy and a hand in every part of how we hire, develop, and support our teams. The Role This HR leadership position covers payroll, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and performance management for a workforce ranging from first-job high schoolers to experienced technicians and managers. Fully in-person, based in East Granby with regular travel to our Hartford-area locations. What You'll Do Payroll & Compliance Manage payroll for both businesses (Toast Payroll and Paychex); resolve timecard and punch issues Track PTO and employee status changes; maintain accurate personnel records and HRIS data Support wage-and-hour compliance, proper classification, and required CT/federal notices and training Maintain employee policies and handbooks; periodically audit HR files and processes Talent & Onboarding Own the full recruiting cycle: job postings, screening, interviews, reference/background checks, offers Coordinate onboarding and offboarding — I-9 compliance, background checks, payroll setup, new-hire orientation Manage promotions, transfers, and terminations across HR and payroll systems Employee Relations, Benefits & Leave Serve as the go-to HR resource for employees, managers, and ownership; coach managers through performance and conduct issues Lead workplace investigations and documentation for coaching and corrective action Administer health, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits, plus annual open enrollment Manage FMLA and other leave, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims Multi-Site Support Regularly visit Grassroots and Meineke locations across the Hartford area for onboarding, employee matters, and staying connected to the teams What We're Looking For 5+ years of progressive HR experience (or equivalent), ready to manage a full HR function Strong hands-on experience with payroll, recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration Working knowledge of employment compliance and HR best practices; multi-site experience a plus Sound judgment, discretion, and strong communication skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Toast Payroll/Paychex experience helpful, not required Bachelor's degree preferred, not required;

SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP/PHR/SPHR

a plus Schedule Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 AM-4:30 PM, based in East Granby, with some flexibility for location visits. Compensation & Benefits $75,000-$95,000/year, plus health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and employee discounts at Grassroots and Meineke.
