JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to manage the day-to-day Human Resources functions of our skilled nursing and long-term care facility. The Human Resources Manager works closely with the Administrator, Corporate Human Resources, and Department Directors to support the facility's staffing, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, personnel records, attendance, and other Human Resources needs. This position is responsible for implementing established Human Resources policies and procedures, maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating the hiring and onboarding process, assisting Department Directors with employee-related matters, and ensuring required Human Resources documentation is completed and maintained. The Human Resources Manager serves as a resource to employees and facility leadership and works with Corporate Human Resources when additional guidance or support is needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resources Administration Manage the daily operations of the facility's Human Resources department Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee personnel records Maintain employee job descriptions and performance evaluation records as required Process new hire paperwork, personnel changes, payroll changes, and other required documentation Maintain attendance records and documentation related to counseling, warnings, and other disciplinary actions Periodically audit personnel files to ensure required documentation is complete and current Complete and submit required Human Resources forms and reports Keep the Administrator and Corporate Human Resources informed of significant personnel matters and staffing concerns Recruitment & Hiring Coordinate recruitment activities to meet the facility's approved staffing needs Review applications and coordinate interviews with Department Directors Conduct background checks and reference checks in accordance with company policy Coordinate pre-employment physicals, testing, and other required screenings Verify employment authorization and maintain required documentation Process new hire paperwork and ensure required documentation is completed Coordinate the hiring process in accordance with established company and facility procedures Work with Department Directors, the Administrator, and Corporate Human Resources regarding recruitment and staffing needs New Employee Orientation Conduct and/or coordinate new employee orientation Explain established Human Resources policies, procedures, payroll practices, grievance procedures, and other applicable requirements Ensure required new hire forms and acknowledgments are completed Coordinate required onboarding and training activities Employee Relations Serve as a resource to employees and Department Directors regarding established Human Resources policies and procedures Assist Department Directors with employee counseling, performance concerns, attendance issues, and disciplinary matters Ensure appropriate documentation is completed for employee counseling and corrective action Coordinate employee terminations with the appropriate Department Director and Administrator Consult with Corporate Human Resources regarding employee relations matters as appropriate Conduct exit interviews and maintain appropriate documentation Escalate complex or sensitive employee relations matters to the Administrator and/or Corporate Human Resources Promote teamwork, mutual respect, effective communication, and a positive work environment Compliance & Personnel Records Follow applicable federal and state employment laws, regulations, and established company policies Ensure established hiring, employment, wage and hour, attendance, workers' compensation, and termination procedures are followed Maintain confidentiality of employee information and protected health information Maintain required employment documentation in accordance with company policy and applicable requirements Ensure Nurse Aide Registry information is verified and submitted as required Report suspected violations, fraud, abuse, neglect, discrimination, retaliation, or other compliance concerns to the appropriate leadership Assist with regulatory surveys, audits, investigations, and plans of correction as directed Staffing & Employee Support Assist Department Directors with staffing-related matters, including scheduling, work assignments, vacation requests, and other personnel needs as requested Monitor staffing and recruitment needs and communicate concerns to the Administrator and Corporate Human Resources Assist with employee retention and engagement efforts Maintain an approachable, professional, and supportive presence for employees Training & Development Maintain knowledge of current Human Resources practices and applicable employment requirements Attend workshops, seminars, and other professional development opportunities as appropriate Coordinate required employee training and competency requirements as directed Communicate Human Resources information and updates to employees and Department Directors as directed Facility Support Assist the Administrator with preparation of the Human Resources department budget Promote safe work practices and accident prevention procedures Follow established safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and facility procedures Participate in facility emergency drills and fulfill assigned responsibilities during emergency situations Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive environment throughout the facility Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or Corporate Human Resources
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred Minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources experience with demonstrated success in Human Resources management Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, post-acute care, healthcare, or another regulated environment preferred Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to Human Resources administration in a post-acute care setting Knowledge of recruitment, employee relations, personnel records, wage and hour requirements, workers' compensation, employment authorization, and confidentiality Strong organizational and administrative skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately Ability to work effectively with employees, Department Directors, the Administrator, Corporate Human Resources, residents, families, and visitors Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Ability to exercise sound judgment and recognize when matters should be referred to the Administrator or Corporate Human Resources Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English
