(FHSi) is a 100% employee-owned commercial mechanical contractor serving Southwest Florida. At FHSi, we believe our people are our greatest resource. Our culture is centered around developing people, building strong relationships, doing quality work, and creating opportunities for our employee-owners to grow personally, professionally, and financially. Job Overview We are seeking a Manager of People & Culture to serve as a trusted resource for our employees, managers, and leadership team while helping strengthen FHSi's people-first and employee-owner culture. This newly created position will oversee key people functions including payroll, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, recruiting, performance management, HR administration, and ESOP education and engagement. The ideal candidate is professional, approachable, highly organized, and exceptionally trustworthy. Just as importantly, we are looking for a problem solver —someone who can gather information, understand different perspectives, identify root causes, and work toward practical solutions. This position reports directly to the President and will have the opportunity to help shape the role as FHSi continues to grow. Key Responsibilities Manage weekly payroll, timekeeping, PTO, payroll changes, and related employee records. Coordinate recruiting, new-hire onboarding, orientation, and offboarding. Administer employee benefits and assist employees with benefit-related questions. Maintain confidential personnel records and HR documentation. Serve as a trusted and confidential resource for employees and managers. Support supervisors with employee relations, performance concerns, coaching, documentation, and difficult conversations. Coordinate performance reviews, employee development, training, and recognition initiatives. Maintain company HR policies and help ensure compliance with applicable employment requirements. Lead ESOP education and employee-owner engagement efforts. Help employees understand how their individual contributions, productivity, teamwork, quality, and decisions impact the success of their company. Help integrate FHSi's principles and core values into onboarding, employee development, recognition, and everyday company culture. Identify opportunities to improve internal processes, communication, systems, and administrative efficiency. Assist with the implementation of new software, systems, and workflows as needed. Research employee and operational issues and bring leadership thoughtful recommendations and potential solutions. Assist the President with special projects, reporting, analysis, and selected business or administrative matters. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee, payroll, compensation, and company information. What We're Looking For Experience in human resources, payroll, accounting, business operations, construction administration, office management, or a related field. Experience with payroll, employee onboarding, benefits, employee records, or other HR-related responsibilities preferred. Construction, mechanical contracting, skilled-trades, or field-workforce experience is a plus but not neccessary. Exceptional discretion, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality. Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Comfortable having difficult conversations while remaining respectful and objective. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and recognize when an issue should be escalated. Comfortable learning new HR practices, employment requirements, software, and systems. Experience improving processes or implementing new systems is a plus. Who Will Thrive in This Role You may be a great fit if you are someone who naturally: Builds trust. Protects confidentiality. Believes in people. Solves problems. Takes ownership. Follows through. You enjoy helping people succeed but also understand the importance of accountability. You are willing to ask questions, seek to understand before making assumptions, and address problems rather than avoid them. You don't need to have spent your entire career in traditional HR. We value business experience, good judgment, professionalism, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn. Why FHSi? As a 100% employee-owned company , our employees have the opportunity to directly contribute to—and share in—the long-term success of FHSi. We believe that when our people grow, our company grows. If you enjoy helping people, improving processes, solving problems, and building a strong workplace culture, we'd like to hear from you !
