M&M Recycling

Manager of People and Culture

Job Description

Manager of People and Culture Company Overview M&M Recycling is a fast-growing, family-run metal recycling company that believes in progress, people, and creating a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and proud of the work they do every day. With multiple locations across Metro Atlanta, we play a key role in the recycling industry while maintaining a grounded, family-oriented culture. As we continue to grow, we are investing in our people and culture so that every employee, at every site, feels engaged, supported, and aligned with our values. The Opportunity We are looking for a Manager of People and Culture (Human Resources Manager) to lead both our HR operations and employee experience efforts across our Metro Atlanta locations. This is a hands-on role where you will be the central hub for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training coordination, payroll completion, and values-driven culture-building initiatives. You will work closely with leadership, yard managers, and department heads to ensure our workforce stays engaged, compliant, and set up to succeed. From hiring great people and launching recognition programs to coordinating training and planning company events, you will have a direct hand in shaping the culture and future of M&M Recycling. What You'll Do Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding, including job descriptions, postings, candidate screenings, preliminary interviews, offers, and new hire integration. Coordinate with department heads to ensure timely completion of required trainings, compliance documentation, and performance reviews. Oversee employee relations, disciplinary processes, and leave policies with consistency, professionalism, and empathy. Maintain accurate employee records, HR reporting, and audit-ready compliance files to support regulatory and scrap-industry requirements. Design and deliver employee engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, staff lunches, holiday events, customer giveaways, newsletters, and seasonal communications. Own the payroll process from beginning to end, including preparing and completing weekly payroll submission to our payroll platform with accuracy. What Success Looks Like Within the first 6 months, recruitment processes are running smoothly, with clearly defined roles, timely hiring decisions, and structured onboarding that reduces time-to-productivity for new hires. Compliance documentation, training records, and performance reviews are consistently up to date and audit-ready across all locations. Employees report feeling more informed, appreciated, and connected through regular communications, recognition, and on-site engagement activities. Leaders and managers view HR as a trusted partner, turning to you for guidance on employee relations, culture initiatives, and workforce planning. What We're Looking For At least 5 years of experience in HR or People and Culture management, ideally in a fast-moving, hands-on or multi-site environment. Experience in HR functions in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of employee relations, compliance, and federal/state labor laws, with the judgment to apply them fairly and consistently. Experience leading hiring, onboarding, performance management, and training coordination efforts. A relationship-builder who is highly organized, professional, comfortable handling sensitive matters, and able to communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels. Compensation and Benefits Medical, Dental, and 401K Pay discussed during the interview process Family-oriented, supportive leadership and the opportunity to shape company culture as we grow Opportunity to work from either our Downtown Atlanta or Locust Grove locations, depending on business needs Pre-employment drug testing and background check is required References will be required How to Apply If this role sounds like the next step in your HR career, please submit your resume and a brief note outlining your experience in people and culture leadership. We look forward to exploring the opportunity with you.
