Director of Accounting and Human Resources - Temple Sinai Atlanta Position Summary The Director of Accounting and Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and all human resources functions of Temple Sinai. This role ensures the organization's financial integrity, adherence to nonprofit accounting standards, compliance with employment laws and supports a positive workplace culture that aligns with Temple Sinai's mission and values. Essential Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Management Oversee all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, fixed assets, monthly bank statement reconciliations and monthly and year-end closing processes. Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the Executive Director, Finance Committee, Endowment Committee and Board of Trustees. Coordinate the annual independent audit and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors. Assist in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of the annual operating budget. Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activity. Maintain strong internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial operations. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), nonprofit accounting standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. Oversee payroll processing and related tax filings. Directly supervise two accounting team members, providing leadership, training, performance management, and professional development while ensuring the timely and accurate completion of accounting functions. Collaborate with department managers and lay leaders on budget development, financial reporting, and operational planning. Human Resources Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations. Maintain personnel records and ensure confidentiality of employee information. Support organizational planning and staffing strategies. Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and employment reporting requirements. Partner with third party Human Resources firm, as needed, for projects related to onboarding / offboarding employees, employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, and implementing and maintaining HR policies. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and finance. Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles. Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and EEOC regulations. Experience preparing budgets, financial statements, and coordinating audits. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. High level of discretion with confidential financial and personnel information. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and HRIS platforms. Preferred Experience working within a nonprofit, religious organization or educational institution. Experience with Bill.com, Salesforce, Microsoft Suite or similar nonprofit systems.

Pay:

$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
