HR Manager Luna Health Group | South Bend, IN or Anchorage, AK | On-Site About Us Luna Health Group is a growing behavioral healthcare organization serving communities across Alaska, Colorado, and Indiana. We're building something meaningful from the ground up—and we need an experienced HR leader to help us scale with care and intention. The Opportunity We're seeking an HR Manager to serve as our head of HR, leading all people operations for our ~125-person team(s) across three substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facilities and remote multi-state corporate staff. This is a rare chance to join a startup at the ground floor, build HR infrastructure from scratch, and grow into broader leadership as we expand. You'll work closely with our interim HR Director (who will support your transition for 6-12 months) and directly manage one HR Specialist while partnering with facility leadership across multiple states. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day HR operations as the primary HR leader. Handle employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution in a high-touch environment. Manage benefits administration (ICHRA experience helpful), payroll oversight, and compliance. Support talent acquisition and hiring across multiple locations. Train and coach managers on HR fundamentals and self-service tools. Build scalable HR processes and delegate effectively. Mentor and develop your HR Specialist and organizational leaders. Duties Lead day-to-day HR operations as the primary HR leader. Handle employee relations, investigations, and conflict resolution in a high-touch environment. Support talent acquisition and hiring across multiple locations. Train and coach managers on HR fundamentals and self-service tools. Build scalable HR processes and delegate effectively. Mentor and develop your HR Specialist and organizational leaders. Manage employee records, benefits administration, and FMLA/ADA/Workers Comp processes. (ICHRA experience helpful) Payroll oversight, timekeeping systems, and compliance. Partner with facility leadership on organizational planning, employee retention strategies, and workforce development. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, especially those relevant to behavioral health and licensed facilities. Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures in accordance with industry best practices. What You Bring 3-5 years of HR generalist experience (not just ER-focused) Healthcare background strongly preferred (behavioral health, home health, inpatient/outpatient, dental, or similar) Proven ability to thrive in startup or evolving environments Strong emotional intelligence and resilience Experience with HRIS systems (Paylocity a plus) Excellent delegation, training, and project management skills Multi-state compliance knowledge (CO/IN/AK/FL/CA/TX/MO) Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion. Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Additional Preferred Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree or HR certification preferred). HR experience in a residential or outpatient SUD treatment environment. Knowledge of regulations specific to substance use disorder treatment facilities (e.g., HIPAA, Joint Commission, CARF). Familiarity with HRIS systems and credentialing/licensure processes for clinical staff. SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification.
