Overview We are a municipal organization north of Boston and we are seeking an experienced Assistant HR Director to join our HR team. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys a broad role and wants to make an impact across recruitment, employee relations, benefits, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations. The Assistant HR Director will work closely with the HR Director and support the management of all functions within the Human Resources department. A major focus of the position will be full-cycle recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, while also providing support to employees and managers across a variety of HR matters. Duties Support the day-to-day operations and administration of the Human Resources department Manage and coordinate full-cycle recruitment , including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, selection, and hiring Coordinate new hire onboarding and ensure all required employment documentation is completed Partner with department managers throughout the recruitment and hiring process Provide guidance and support regarding employee relations and workplace policies Assist with labor relations , including working in a unionized environment and supporting collective bargaining-related matters Support the administration of employee benefits , including enrollment, changes, and employee questions Maintain accurate and confidential employee records Assist with HR policies, procedures, and compliance Provide HR guidance and customer service to employees and department leadership Assist with personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, transfers, and separations Prepare reports, correspondence, and other HR documentation Utilize Microsoft Office extensively for reporting, communication, spreadsheets, and other administrative functions Take on additional HR projects and responsibilities as needed Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred Several years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR leadership capacity Strong full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition experience Previous labor relations/union experience required Experience with employee benefits administration Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office , particularly Word and Excel Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels Join us to be part of a forward-thinking organization that values innovation in human resources!
