A well-established manufacturing organization in the Wilmington area is seeking an experienced HR Manager / Senior HR Generalist for a temporary 60-90 day assignment, with the possibility of an extension. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional who can step into an established environment, work independently, and immediately serve as a resource to leadership. The primary focus of this assignment will be reviewing, updating, and strengthening the company's employee handbook across multiple states . The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of HR compliance and employment law and be comfortable identifying potential gaps, recommending policy improvements, and ensuring HR practices are aligned with current requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead the review and updating of a multi-state employee handbook Evaluate existing policies and recommend updates based on current employment laws and HR best practices Ensure policies align with federal and applicable state employment regulations Partner with leadership to identify compliance risks and opportunities for improvement Research and provide recommendations regarding HR policies, procedures, and employee practices Utilize Mineral or similar HR compliance/handbook platforms to support policy development Provide general HR guidance and support to the team as needed Assist with organizing and maintaining employee records and HR documentation Help address an existing administrative and filing backlog once the handbook project is completed Work independently with minimal day-to-day direction while keeping leadership informed of progress Qualifications 5+ years of progressive HR experience , ideally at the HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist, HR Manager, or HRBP level Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employment law, and HR best practices Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, or maintaining multi-state employee handbooks Ability to independently assess policies and provide thoughtful recommendations to leadership Strong understanding of federal and state employment regulations Experience working across multiple states strongly preferred Familiarity with Mineral or similar HR compliance/handbook platforms preferred Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing projects independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to balance strategic HR thinking with hands-on administrative support Ideal Candidate This position is best suited for an experienced HR professional who can hit the ground running and does not require significant training or oversight. The ideal candidate will be comfortable acting as a trusted HR resource, reviewing existing practices through a compliance lens, and making recommendations that protect both the organization and its employees.
