Our current HR Manager has been with Bolton for more than 11 years and will be easing into retirement in the coming months. The person we hire will have the opportunity to work alongside her, learn our people and processes, and transition into the role with her experience and support. And you won't be expected to manage HR from an island. Our HR Manager works closely with company leadership and ownership and has direct, hands-on support when difficult situations arise. Bolton is a fourth-generation, family-run Plumbing and HVAC company in business since 1925. We value professionalism, accountability, common sense, and a low-drama, team-focused workplace. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, can earn their trust, keeps us organized and compliant, and isn't afraid to handle the occasional difficult conversation. The Role The HR Manager handles Bolton's day-to-day Human Resources operations and serves as a trusted resource to both employees and leadership.

Responsibilities include:

Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and employee orientation Benefits administration - medical, dental, vision, life, AFLAC, and 401(k) PHCC Apprenticeship Program administration FMLA and worker's; compensation OSHA recordkeeping and required submissions Employee relations, personnel matters, and maintaining confidential records Coaching managers and assisting with disciplinary meetings and terminations Tracking employee training and documentation Staying current with employment laws and HR requirements Job fairs, recruiting events, and community outreach Maintaining relationships with benefit providers, brokers, agencies, and community organizations Supporting the Safety Committee and other HR-related administrative needs

What We're Looking For:

Highly organized, dependable, flexible, and resourceful Strong judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices Excellent verbal and written communication skills Comfortable working with employees at all levels—from apprentices and field technicians to managers and ownership Able to coach, counsel, advise, and handle difficult conversations professionally Willing to learn our business rather than manage HR entirely from behind a desk Preferred, but not required: Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or at least four years of relevant HR experience.
