Strengthen Culture. Shape the Future. Holowicki Enterprises is seeking an experienced, people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead the HR strategy for our family-owned and operated McDonald's franchise organization. At Holowicki Enterprises, we believe our people are the foundation of our success. The Director of Human Resources will serve as a trusted partner to ownership and operations leadership, helping us attract talented people, develop strong leaders, maintain compliance, and create a workplace where employees feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can balance strategic planning with the daily needs of a fast-paced, multi-restaurant organization. Working Environment The Director of Human Resources will maintain an active presence in our restaurants, building relationships with employees and managers, observing the employee experience firsthand, and supporting the culture where our teams work every day. Regular restaurant visits will be essential to creating a genuine open-door environment where employees feel comfortable sharing questions, ideas, and concerns. The successful candidate will be approachable, visible, and engaged while partnering with restaurant leadership to strengthen communication, trust, accountability, and workplace culture. Key Responsibilities Develop and lead the organization's overall human resources strategy. Maintain a consistent and approachable presence across restaurant locations. Build trusted relationships with restaurant employees, managers, supervisors, and organizational leadership. Promote an open-door environment where employees feel heard, respected, and supported. Partner with ownership, supervisors, and restaurant leadership to support business and people-related goals. Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, retention, and succession-planning initiatives. Strengthen the employee experience and promote a positive, accountable workplace culture. Provide guidance regarding employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and workplace investigations. Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment practices across all restaurant locations. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Oversee employee documentation, personnel records, unemployment claims, and required reporting. Support leadership development and career-growth opportunities throughout the organization. Evaluate staffing levels, turnover, retention, and other workforce trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, and training resources. Partner with payroll, benefits, operations, and outside vendors as needed. Provide coaching and practical HR support to managers while maintaining professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality. Lead initiatives that strengthen communication, recognition, engagement, and accountability. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Five or more years of progressive human resources experience, including leadership responsibility. Experience supporting a multi-location, restaurant, hospitality, retail, or high-volume hourly workforce is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, employee relations, and performance management. Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive workplace matters with professionalism and discretion. Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to build trusted relationships with employees and leaders at every level of the organization. Willingness and ability to travel regularly among restaurant locations. Comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and responding to the needs of a fast-paced operation. HR certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR, is preferred. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be approachable, visible, organized, and solutions-focused. They will enjoy spending time in our restaurants and engaging directly with employees at every level. They will understand that strong HR leadership requires both compassion and accountability—and that policies are most effective when they are applied consistently and supported by clear communication.
