Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Human Resources Director to lead our organization's HR initiatives and foster a thriving, compliant, and engaged workforce. This pivotal role involves shaping HR strategies, overseeing talent acquisition, managing employee relations, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all employment practices. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will drive organizational development, enhance employee experience, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. The ideal candidate will be a true leader capable of translating business objectives into HR strategies that support growth, innovation, and profitability. This position demands a deep understanding of production operations, including the unique challenges and opportunities related to workforce management, employee relations, safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives. The HR Administrative Assistant is a direct report. In this role, you will be part of senior leadership, guiding decision-making on all HR related matters, from talent acquisition and development to compensation, benefits, and compliance. This position is not merely about managing HR functions; it's about strategically partnering with the business to build a resilient, high-performing workforce ready to meet the demands of a long standing, respected and growing production facility. To be successful in this role, you need to thrive in a fast-paced, expanding production environment and possess the ability to develop people and create and/or enhance processes that embrace a growth mindset and organizational success. You will lead by example and have a willingness to get to work.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnership / HR Leadership Be a change agent by creating and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the production business goals and objectives. Be a strategic partner to the Plant Manager and Leadership team by providing expert guidance on organizational development, change management, talent management, and workforce planning. Bring actionable HR solutions to ensure attrition and retention of talent, operational excellence and drive productivity gains. Implement and deliver best practices. Talent Management / Workforce Planning Oversee all areas of talent acquisition from production labor to office staff. Reassess and maintain a successful and dependable sourcing program to attract and maintain top talent working with both external partners and internal team members to bring in the best talent. Reassess and maintain a top-notch onboarding and training program to maintain employee engagement and to successfully integrate talent effectively so they quickly become productive team members. Work with Plant Manager and Department Heads to address current and future staffing needs, skills gap, and succession planning. Employee Engagement / Employee Relations Oversee all employee relations to ensure fair and consistent application of all company policies, employment and labor laws. Work with all managers and provide expert guidance to effectively resolve employee conflict, appropriate disciplinary action, and performance management. Reassess all programs and tools designed to promote employee engagement, morale, retention and create a positive and productive work environment. Performance Management/Training and Development Reassess the current performance management system to ensure goal alignment to maintain business strategy, so everyone pulls in the same direction. Enhance 90-Day and annual reviews to include ongoing conversations to fix issues right away and eliminate any bottlenecks. Ensure all employees have clear expectations and are held accountable. Reassess the Talent Development Program to ensure it supports continuous improvement, guides career growth, and helps managers and leaders make successful promotion decisions. HR Compliance / Risk Avoidance / Safety Regulations Implement and follow all legal requirements including federal, state, and local employment laws, practices, and regulations. Conduct all mandatory training related to compliance, risk and safety measures. Manage and oversee all HR audits, reporting requirements, including but limited to, EEO, ADA, OSHA, Workers' Compensation, FLSA and FMLA. Manage all HR related investigations, ensuring confidentiality and taking appropriate and preventive measures. Implement best practices to mitigate risks. Collaborate with plant safety team members(s) to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure all safety practices, procedures, reporting, injury/incidents are done timely and compliant.
Compensation / Benefit
Administration Manage compensation initiatives to make sure compensation is reflective of the essential functions of the job, experience and skill set. Maintain job description that aligns accordingly with the role and tasks necessary. Implement a compensation strategy and system that is reflective and competitive in the marketplace and that is successful in attracting and maintaining top talent. Ensure compensation programs follow all federal, state and local laws. Manage the annual increases, bonus programs, and all benefits enrollments. Manage and build relationships with all vendors and brokers. Ensure all benefits information (health, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life and other ancillary benefits offered) is accurate and processed timely. Implement educational programs to aid in the learning process of understanding company benefit programs and 401K. HRIS/Payroll System Support payroll to ensure proper and timely processing, accurate pay rates, benefit /401k deductions, garnishments, and any other changes that affect payroll. Lead and leverage the HRIS system to its capacity to ensure efficient use of the system to allow for fast and accurate information including workforce reporting, HR analytics, and process improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required SHRM SCP or SPHR is required A Master's Degree (in HR) is a plus Minimum of 10 years of strong HR experience Minimum 5 years of managing the HR function in a production/plant environment with multiple shifts. Demonstrated knowledge of production labor, shift work, and safety culture. In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Ability to develop and execute HR strategies that align with business goals and a growing production facility. Ability to lead and influence others Exceptional written and verbal communication skills A change agent that implements and drives value added processes and procedures that align with company goals Must be a problem solver, have critical thinking skills, and decision-making capabilities Must be available for second shift office hours (scheduled)
