Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

Marino Construction Group is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to oversee the full range of human resources functions across our construction operations. This role is responsible for managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance for both office staff and field crews. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating the unique HR challenges of the construction industry — including multi-site workforces, certified payroll, prevailing wage requirements, and high-volume hiring for field positions — while building a strong, compliant, and positive workplace culture.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & Performance Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary matters Support supervisors and managers with performance management, coaching, and documentation Conduct investigations into workplace complaints and ensure appropriate resolution Manage the termination process, including documentation and compliance with applicable laws Benefits & Payroll Support Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance and 401(k) plan enrollment and eligibility tracking Partner with payroll to ensure accurate processing, including timesheet compliance and any certified payroll/prevailing wage requirements Serve as the liaison with benefits brokers and vendors Compliance & Policy Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, EEOC, etc.) Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies Manage required labor law postings and recordkeeping across all job sites Oversee workers' compensation claims and safety program coordination with field leadership HR Administration Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HRIS records Track and report on headcount, turnover, and other HR metrics Support company culture initiatives, employee engagement, and retention efforts Recruitment & Onboarding Manage full-cycle recruitment for office and field positions, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and offer letters Coordinate new hire onboarding, including paperwork, orientation, and safety training scheduling Qualifications 5+ years of HR experience a plus, with construction or field-based workforce experience strongly preferred Working knowledge of employment law, wage & hour regulations, and (if applicable) prevailing wage/certified payroll requirements Experience with HRIS and payroll systems Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills Ability to manage confidential information with discretion Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
PHR/SHRM-CP
certification a plus
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
