There is no HR team to lean on; you will handle everything from recruiting and onboarding to benefits, compliance, and employee relations. This role is ideal for someone who has already run HR solo at a small or mid-sized company (or has been the "go-to" HR generalist at a larger one) and enjoys owning the whole function end to end. You will have the support of leadership and outside payroll/benefits vendors, but day-to-day you will be the person our employees come to with questions, and the person management relies on to keep us compliant and well-organized. What You'll Do Own full-cycle recruiting: write and post job ads, screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and extend offers for technician, inspector, and office roles Run new-hire onboarding, including I-9/E-Verify, background and drug-screening coordination, and orientation Maintain compliance with our FAA Part 145 and DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing program requirements (random pool management, testing coordination, recordkeeping) in coordination with our Designated Employer Representative Keep complete, audit-ready personnel and training records for FAA and customer audits Administer benefits enrollment, open enrollment, and employee questions; act as the liaison with our benefits broker and carriers Prepare and submit payroll data to our payroll provider; resolve timekeeping and PTO questions Maintain and update the employee handbook, job descriptions, and HR policies Handle employee relations matters, investigations, disciplinary documentation, and terminations with discretion and proper documentation Ensure compliance with federal and Florida employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA recordkeeping, workers' compensation claims, required postings) Track performance reviews, certifications, and training due dates alongside the Quality department Support leadership with headcount planning, compensation benchmarking, and HR reporting What We're Looking For Required 3+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience, with at least 1 year as the sole or lead HR person at a company Working knowledge of federal and Florida employment law and HR compliance requirements Experience with payroll processing or payroll vendor coordination (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar) and HRIS systems Experience administering benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) Strong organization and recordkeeping habits - you keep files audit-ready without being asked Excellent judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information Comfortable in a shop environment working with technicians and mechanics as much as with office staff Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred Experience in aviation, MRO, manufacturing, or another regulated/industrial environment Familiarity with DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing programs (49 CFR Part 40 / 14 CFR Part 120) PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification Experience supporting FAA, customer, or
ISO/AS9100
