Job Description

Help Build the Team Behind the Boats Boater's World Manufacturing Group is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our growing boat manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina. This is a hands-on, on-site HR position supporting employees and leadership throughout a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll work directly with hourly production employees, supervisors, managers, and company leadership while supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compliance, benefits, leave administration, workers' compensation, and day-to-day HR operations. We're looking for someone who is comfortable being out on the production floor, working directly with employees and supervisors, and actively involved in the operation rather than spending the entire day behind a desk. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience , with significant experience supporting a manufacturing or production workforce strongly preferred. What You'll Do Employee Relations & Leadership Support Serve as an on-site HR resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and company leadership Build strong relationships with hourly production employees and leadership throughout the facility Coach managers and supervisors regarding employee relations, attendance, performance management, corrective action, workplace conduct, and company policies Respond to employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues Conduct employee investigations and maintain appropriate documentation Assist with performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and other employee matters Promote consistent application of company policies and employment practices Help foster a positive, accountable, safe, and productive workplace culture Recruiting & Onboarding Manage and support recruiting for hourly production, skilled trades, technical, administrative, professional, and leadership positions Partner with manufacturing leadership to understand current and future staffing needs Source and screen candidates through job boards, referrals, community resources, schools, and other recruiting channels Coordinate interviews, offers, background checks, drug screenings, and other pre-employment requirements Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding Ensure I-9, E-Verify, and other required employment documentation is completed accurately Partner with supervisors to support successful employee onboarding and retention Manufacturing HR Operations Maintain a regular HR presence throughout the manufacturing facility and production areas Support supervisors with day-to-day workforce and employee matters Manage and support attendance and policy administration Process employee transfers, promotions, compensation changes, terminations, and other status changes Monitor workforce trends including turnover, attendance, vacancies, and retention Support employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives Assist leadership with workforce planning as production and headcount requirements change HR Compliance & Administration Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS information Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies Support compliance with FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, I-9, E-Verify, and other applicable employment requirements Maintain accurate documentation related to employee relations, performance, attendance, and employment actions Support HR audits, reporting, policy administration, and recordkeeping Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, consistency, and efficiency Workers' Compensation, Leave & Benefits Coordinate workers' compensation claims, documentation, and employee follow-up Support return-to-work and modified-duty processes Coordinate
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, and other applicable leave programs Partner with manufacturing leadership regarding workplace injuries and employee safety matters Assist employees with benefits enrollment, eligibility, and general benefits questions Support annual Open Enrollment Partner with payroll to ensure employee changes and compensation information are processed accurately Requirements Minimum 5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Strong employee relations experience, including investigations, performance management, attendance, and corrective action Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, workers' compensation, and HR compliance Experience coaching and advising supervisors and managers on employee matters Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, I-9, and E-Verify requirements Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with leadership Must be able to work on-site in Chocowinity, NC Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred Experience supporting a manufacturing plant or production workforce Experience supporting both hourly production employees and salaried leadership Boat, marine, automotive, RV, powersports, composites, fiberglass, industrial, or similar manufacturing experience Experience recruiting manufacturing employees and skilled trades Experience with workers' compensation and workplace safety programs Experience supporting a growing or expanding manufacturing operation Experience with Paylocity or a similar HRIS/payroll system SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification Previous boat manufacturing experience is not required. Candidates with HR experience in marine manufacturing, automotive, RV, powersports, composites, fiberglass, industrial production, or similar manufacturing environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
