Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist is a member of the Admin Team and is a position responsible for creating, updating and applying all HR policies and company guidelines. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations across the entire employee lifecycle, including hiring, benefits, and compliance.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and reviews compensation and benefits packages
  • Administers health and life insurance programs
  • Updates employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status
  • Maintains organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records
  • Forecasts hiring needs and ensures recruitment process runs smoothly
  • Responsible for engaging new hires with paperwork and background checks
  • Develops and implements HR policies throughout the organization, as needed
  • Processes Time & Attendance and organizational payroll and performs regular audits
  • Answers staff questions, resolves workplace conflicts, and guides managers through performance evaluations or disciplinary steps
  • Keeps Executive Director informed immediately of critical incidents and updates the Executive Director on everything else during weekly meetings
  • Participates in Leadership Roundtable Discussions with SPCS Leadership Team
  • Maintains confidential records in an HR Information System (HRIS) and ensures adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws
  • Assists Executive Director with union communication and engagement
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Deep understanding of high confidentiality
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, may be required)
  • Understanding of personal wellness
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of 2 - 5 years in the Human Resources field required
  • Previous work with a non-profit organization preferred
  • Previous work with a unionized workforce preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
