Job Description

The Admissions Recruitment & Engagement Specialist is a member of the Student Recruitment & Engagement Team within the Office of Admissions. The RES is assigned a cohort of both first-year and transfer students and is responsible for managing these students throughout the admissions process. These roles serve as specialists in student relationship development, following up with well-qualified students to ensure an appropriate number complete applications in addition to recruiting commitments for the incoming class. RESs will have a working knowledge of best practices for interacting with current high school students and utilize engaging methods (phone, text, email, etc) to advise students about their college planning and how Berea should be a strong fit as they navigate college decision making. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Manage and follow-up with assigned cohort of students so that an appropriate number of well qualified students apply and move through the application phases of the admissions funnel. Utilize the Admissions Technosolutions Slate CRM to access and update student records, complete tasks, execute queries, and analyze reports Use data-driven communication methods and practices to advise students on how best to strengthen application files through submission of electives. Use high impact recruitment strategies (mail, phone, email, texts, etc) to follow up with all assigned admitted students to influence matriculation to Berea. Create annual strategic plan alongside Assistant Director of Student Recruitment & Engagement to maximize completion rates and yield rates. Manage the scheduling and completion of quick chats with applicants. Manage the scheduling and completion of financial aid/cost conversations with admitted students/ Provide direct support to Scholars in premier nomination pathways to encourage completion of applications and commitments if admitted. Participate in and support the application assessment process (holistic review), including but not limited to the review of academic & financial credentials as well as the exploration of fit and likelihood to retain. Conduct on-campus information sessions and conversations with prospective and admitted students. Conduct campus tours as needed for prospective students, families and other admissions guests. Support the transportation of admitted students and advisory groups to campus (airport pick-up, drop-offs, etc) Collaborate with Regional Admissions Managers to enhance application activity and confirm application details. Partner with the Campus Visits Team to initiate and support student yield visits (trueBlue, etc) As required, attend and participate in recruitment events (on-campus, virtual, college fairs, high school visits, etc) Complete administrative tasks, duties and responsibilities (Ask Admissions, expense reports, internal deadlines, etc). in a timely manner while maintaining quality customer service. Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students. Education required to ensure success in this position: Bachelor's degree, required Experience required to ensure success in this position: Experience with high school students preferred, but not required Special skills, knowledge and abilities: Ability to build relationships with high school students Affinity for people (eager to educate students about the Berea mission) Strong writing, public speaking and phone skills Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in an independent work setting Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion issues and initiatives Exhibit desire for ongoing learning about admissions recruitment practices and generational trends License, certification, or registration necessary: Valid Driver's License Required background check Physical requirements: Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to travel Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
