M/W 1:30-6pm, T 1-6pm, Th/F 2-6pm Make a Difference Every Day The Art YDP creates meaningful opportunities for young people to explore their creativity, express themselves, and discover new ways of seeing the world. This role plans and facilitates engaging Fine Arts, Cultural Enrichment, and Arts & Crafts programs that encourage imagination, skill-building, cultural awareness, and self-expression. Through hands-on activities and engaging instruction, the Art Instructor creates a safe, structured, and inclusive environment where every young person can participate, experiment, and develop their unique talents. This position also builds positive relationships with members and uses youth development practices to foster confidence, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. What You'll Do Plan, coordinate, and implement weekly and monthly art, arts & crafts, and cultural enrichment activities Develop program schedules based on club needs while ensuring activities are conducted safely and effectively Facilitate age-appropriate art experiences that align with organizational goals and support student development Promote art programs and assist with enrollment for classes, field trips, and community art events Encourage and support student participation in art exhibits, contests, and special events Display student artwork to celebrate achievements and create an engaging club environment Maintain a clean, organized, and safe arts and crafts area Monitor and manage art supplies, materials, and inventory Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other team members Perform additional duties as assigned, including homework assistance and providing coverage in other program areas
What You'll Bring Required:
High school diploma or GED Experience working with children and knowledge of youth development Basic knowledge of art fundamentals College-level coursework in art is preferred Strong communication skills with children and staff Ability to manage group behavior and consistently enforce safety guidelines Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies Ability to supervise students during activities, field trips, and transitions Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team CPR/First Aid certification (provided upon hire) Must complete all pre-employment clearances (see below) Pre-Employment Requirements All candidates must complete: Background check (including criminal history) TB test Drug & alcohol screening I-9 verification with original documents required What We Offer Seasonal (summer program) flexibility Employee assistance program Employee discounts Mission-driven work with a long-term impact Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Onsite at designated work location (standalone Clubhouse or school site) involving indoor and outdoor activities Ability to push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
