Experience and Education HOURS:
20-29 hours per week
HOURS OF AVAILABILITY
Monday-Thursday:
11:00 AM•6:30
PMFriday:
12:30 PM•6:30 PM Additional evening and weekend hours may be required based on events Summer schedule: 8:30 AM•5:30 PM, with extended days on select Fridays until 10 PM and weekend work as needed
PRIMARY FUNCTION
We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Youth Development Professional committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of Malibu's teens. The YDP will support youth through program facilitation, engagement, and supervision, while incorporating mindfulness, recreation, academics, arts, and leadership skills throughout the day. The ideal candidate is energetic, positive, active, fun-loving, and passionate about youth development.
PROFESSIONAL
STANDARDSLeadership Build positive relationships with members to encourage active participation. Empower youth to develop leadership skills through positive role modeling. Facilitate program sessions in key Boys & Girls Clubs areas, including: Character & Leadership, Education Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. Manage & Develop Resources Implement daily programs/activities in Arts & Crafts, STEM, Healthy Lifestyles, Sports, and Recreation. Attend and actively participate in monthly staff meetings and required trainings. Create and oversee specialty programs based on member needs, as well as weekly high-yield activities. Communication Maintain positive and professional communication with co-workers, families, youth, community partners, and Club affiliates. Present relevant information through program facilitation, meetings, and Club events. Prepare clear, concise, and accurate written documentation, including incident reports. Ensure accurate attendance tracking and proper parent/guardian sign-in/out procedures. Supervision & Safety Safety is our top priority. Adhere to and model all Club safety practices, including Crisis Management, Emergency Preparedness, CPR/First Aid protocols, and updated health guidelines. Communicate safety concerns promptly to the supervisor via email, phone, or in person. Participate in required safety trainings, including enhanced
COVID-19
protocols. Other Duties as Assigned The above list is not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned that are logical and appropriate to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Knowledge Minimum 18 years of age with valid identification. Experience working with a Boys & Girls Club or other youth-serving organization. Ability to organize, supervise, and appropriately discipline youth. Strong teamwork skills, adaptability, and willingness to take on varied tasks. Education Bachelor's Degree obtained or in progress preferred (Education, Early Childhood Education, Behavioral Science, or related fields). Physical Requirements / Work Environment (As required under the Americans with Disabilities Act) Maintain a high-energy, positive, and constructive attitude. Ability to sit or stand for 4+ hours per day. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Comfortable working outdoors for 3-4 hours per day during recreation programs. Hold a good driving record and qualify to drive Club vans (no special license required). Availability for special programs and occasional weekend events. Preferred Skills/Knowledge Bilingual (Spanish speaking and writing). Completion of 12+ units in Early Childhood Education. Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
