$20/hour, generally up to 15 hours per week

Maximum Contract Amount:
$12,000 Position Summary NAMI Illinois is seeking an Affiliate Development Consultant to help establish and grow NAMI Kankakee County , an emerging NAMI affiliate serving Kankakee County. The consultant will build community relationships, recruit local volunteers and leaders, increase awareness of NAMI resources, and help develop sustainable local programs and partnerships. Key Responsibilities Build relationships with behavioral health providers, hospitals, schools, nonprofits, faith communities, government agencies, businesses, and other community partners. Represent NAMI at community meetings, events, resource fairs, and outreach opportunities. Recruit and engage steering committee members, volunteers, and potential NAMI Program Leaders. Help identify opportunities for NAMI programs, presentations, support groups, and classes. Support development of local leadership, partnerships, and affiliate infrastructure. Identify potential donors, sponsors, grants, and other funding opportunities. Track outreach, partnerships, volunteer recruitment, and affiliate-development activities. Participate in regular meetings and provide updates to NAMI Illinois. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Has strong interpersonal and community relationship-building skills. Is comfortable conducting outreach and introducing NAMI to new partners. Enjoys recruiting and engaging volunteers. Is organized, dependable, and able to work independently. Is familiar with Kankakee County and its community organizations. Has an interest in mental health and NAMI's mission. Experience in nonprofit work, behavioral health, community outreach, social services, public health, community organizing, or volunteer engagement is preferred. This position requires in-person community engagement within Kankakee County. Approved mileage and eligible business expenses may be reimbursed according to NAMI Illinois policies. About NAMI Illinois NAMI Illinois is the statewide organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We work alongside local affiliates and communities throughout Illinois to improve the lives of people and families affected by mental health conditions through education, support, advocacy, outreach, and community partnership. Through the development of NAMI Kankakee County, NAMI Illinois is helping build sustainable local leadership, partnerships, programming, and access to NAMI resources within Kankakee County. How to
