The Training Technician supports the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the OBIC Corporate Training Program. Working closely with the Director of Corporate Training, this position assists in the education, development, and certification of OBIC applicators through classroom instruction, hands-on equipment training, field application training, and technical support. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys working with people, has hands-on mechanical and technical aptitude, and can effectively transition between classroom, shop, and field environments. This position requires extensive travel to customer job sites and the ability to provide practical, hands-on training and technical assistance in a variety of working environments. Essential Responsibilities Assist in conducting manufacturer-certified OBIC training programs. Support the education, development, and certification of OBIC installers. Ensure Certified Installers have the knowledge, skills, equipment, and resources necessary to successfully perform their work. Instruct new installers on the proper operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of specialized equipment used to spray-apply OBIC products. Travel to customer job sites, both domestically and internationally as needed, to provide hands-on training, technical assistance, and field support. Assist installers with equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. Monitor installer adherence to OBIC safety, operational, and quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide supplemental training, coaching, and technical guidance when areas for improvement are identified. Assist with product development through product testing, laboratory experiments, and field evaluations. Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials, presentations, instructional videos, and other educational resources. Assist with shop operations and hands-on mechanical work as needed to support training activities, equipment readiness, and operational needs. Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, best practices, regulations, technologies, and emerging trends relevant to OBIC products, equipment, and training programs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional methods. Ability to effectively deliver technical and hands-on training to adult learners. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to identify installer training needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Ability to adapt training approaches to different audiences, experience levels, and learning styles. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn specialized equipment and application processes. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and communicate technical information clearly. Ability to contribute to the development and improvement of training programs and materials. Ability to evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Ability to organize and manage multiple training activities and priorities. Adaptability and willingness to work in both office, shop, and field environments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Corporate Training team and other departments. Schedule & Hours This is a full-time position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday during normal daytime business hours established by the organization. Training schedules, customer needs, travel, and field assignments may occasionally require work during evenings, weekends, or holidays. Travel Requirements Approximately 75% travel is expected for this position. Travel will include visits to customer and project job sites to provide hands-on training, technical assistance, equipment troubleshooting, and field support. Domestic and international travel may be required based on customer, project, and organizational needs. What We're Looking For The ideal Training Technician is someone who combines technical aptitude, hands-on mechanical ability, communication skills, and a passion for teaching others. This individual should be comfortable working directly with installers and customers, troubleshooting equipment in the field, presenting technical information in a classroom setting, and traveling extensively to support OBIC's training and operational needs.
