Job Description
STEM Youth Development Professional
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise engaging age-appropriate STEM programming for youth in grades K-12. This role focuses on fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and academic growth while ensuring a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all members.
KEY ROLES

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
) Prepare youth for success 1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of
Youth Development Outcomes:
a. Promote and stimulate program participation b. Participate in new member orientation process c. Provide guidance and role modeling to members Program Development and Implementation 2. Develop and facilitate creative, hands-on STEM lesson plans that are age-appropriate for members 3. Incorporate academic standards into daily lesson planning to reinforce key concepts 4. Adapt activities to meet diverse learning styles, abilities, and developmental levels 5. Maintain organized lesson plans and materials aligns with program goals and outcomes Program Outcomes & Compliance 6. Meet grant outcomes, program deliverables, and reporting requirements as assigned 7. Track attendance, participation, and progress toward program goals 8. Support evaluation efforts and provide feedback to improve program quality Supervision, Collaboration, & Communication 9. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings 10. Work collaboratively with program staff to ensure cohesive programming 11. Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding program needs, successes, and challenges 12. Participating in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Lead by example. 2. Create lesson plans that reflect state standards, BGCA outcomes, and LEAP & 21st Century grant requirements 3. Ability to lead active and engaging activities in a group setting 4. Attend ALL staff meetings and complete all onboarding training 5. All staff participate in special programs and/or events 6. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and high energy levels during program hours 7. Commitment to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for all youth 8. Assume all other tasks asked of you
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club Staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External:
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
High School Diploma
Experience working with children
Knowledge of youth development
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
Ability to deal with general public
Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
SKILLS/ STRONGLY PREFERRED
Experience working with youth in afterschool programs, camps, and tutoring
Experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating group learning
Comfort leading hands-on experiments or structure activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to participate in games and activities with members
