Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to provide a safe and nurturing environment for pets. This role involves handling various breeds of dogs, ensuring their well-being, and assisting with daily operations in the kennel. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs. Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to staff. Assist in administering medications Support dog training sessions and reinforce positive behaviors. Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets and address any questions or concerns. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques when necessary. Assist with heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, and animals as needed. Requirements Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred but not a requirement (kennel experience is a plus). Familiarity with dog training techniques and veterinary practices is beneficial. Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with animal care. Experience in pet grooming, pet sitting, or veterinary assistant roles is advantageous. A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
