Dog Groomer

Job Description

Domestic Dog Training | Tilton, NH We're looking for a compassionate, motivated groomer to join our team.
Compensation:
60% commission, or an hourly rate with commission bonuses - whichever works best for you. At Domestic Dog Training, we believe grooming is about much more than making dogs look good - it's about helping them feel comfortable, building trust, and creating positive experiences that last a lifetime. One of the reasons we started our grooming program was because we wanted to offer an alternative to the rushed pace of many traditional salons. Too often, we see dogs that are quickly referred to their vet, over-medicated just to get through an appointment, passed from salon to salon, or simply not given the time and patience they need to learn that grooming can be a positive experience. We believe that grooming is a learned experience. Just like any other skill, dogs can often develop confidence, coping strategies, and trust when they're given the time, patience, and consistency they deserve. Our goal isn't to force dogs through appointments or ignore safety. It's to help them build lasting skills through thoughtful handling, relationship building, and cooperative care, so that grooming becomes less stressful over time instead of something they simply endure. We believe the measure of success isn't simply completing today's groom, but helping make the next groom easier. We're looking for is someone who is willing to slow down, think outside the box, and help dogs make progress over time. We value groomers who enjoy learning about behavior, cooperative care, and handling techniques, and who believe many grooming challenges can improve through patience, consistency, relationship building, and the right approach. What We're Looking For Professional grooming experience (2+ years preferred) A positive attitude and willingness to learn A passion for continuing education and growing your skills—the dog industry is constantly evolving, and we believe we should too Patience with dogs that need extra support Strong handling skills and good judgment Pride in producing high-quality work Someone who sees behavior challenges as opportunities to teach, not just obstacles to work around What Makes Us Different Work alongside experienced dog trainers who can help develop behavior plans for dogs struggling with grooming Your own private grooming space—no rushing, no chaos. Put on your headphones and groom the way you do best. We handle all scheduling, client communication, and marketing so you can focus on grooming We prioritize quality over quantity No weekends or major holidays Continuing education is encouraged and supported A collaborative team that believes there's always something new to learn We're looking for someone who wants to grow with us, enjoys building relationships with both dogs and their owners, and wants to help change the way dogs experience grooming. If you're passionate about your craft, believe every dog deserves patience and understanding, and are excited to keep learning throughout your career, we'd love to hear from you!
