Job Description

Animal Care Associate - Cat and Small Animal Focus (with Secondary Focus on Dogs)
Position Summary:
The Humane Society of Summit County is currently welcoming applications for a part-time Animal Care Associates who will primarily focus on the care and well-being of cats and small animals in our shelter. This role also includes a secondary emphasis on providing care and support for our canine residents. As an Animal Care Associate, you'll play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to cats, small animals, and dogs. Your work will directly contribute to the well-being and future of our animal residents, making this an opportunity to be part of something meaningful.
Schedule:
The position is scheduled for 24 hours per week , with shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM . Open availability is required for assigned workdays. Holiday shifts are assigned on a rotational basis. About the

Key Responsibilities:
Cat and Small Animal Focus:
Provide daily care, feeding, and monitoring of cats, small mammals, and other small animals. Clean and maintain animal enclosures, ensuring a clean and sanitary environment. Socialize and interact with animals to improve their overall well-being and adoptability. Keeps supervisor informed of animal behavior, health, or other concerns. Provide enrichment activities and mental stimulation for cats and small animals. Does animal laundry and dishes throughout the day. Stocks areas and spot-cleans animals and public areas throughout the day. Promptly moves animals (adoption, isolation, quarantine, etc.) as instructed. Provides professional visitor, staff, and volunteer care - with the highest standards of customer care and service. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Secondary Focus on
Dogs:
Provide support for the care, feeding, and monitoring of dogs as needed. Assist with walking, exercising, and socializing dogs in accordance with their individual needs. Keeps supervisor informed of animal behavior, health, or other concerns. Assist in training and behavior modification activities for dogs, as required. Entry level positions in Animal Care, starting pay is $16.00 .
Requirements:
Must be 18 years old or older to apply. Able to perform very physical work: scrubbing, mopping, bending, lifting, walking, and standing for up to 8 hours a day, lifting up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or
Equivalent Minimum Experience:
Entry level, no experience required. Training is provided. Successful candidates will pose the following qualities: Positive attitude. Must have a passion for working with animals. Must be able to handle physical demanding work. Ability to multitask. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with animals, cleaning agents and chemicals. Knowledge of animal breeds, behavior, handling and safe restraint methods. Ability to read, write, understand and follow instructions.
Pay:
