We're looking for dependable, trustworthy people to join our small team of Pet Care Providers and help us give families something incredibly valuable: peace of mind knowing their pets are safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for while they're away. This is more than stopping by to fill a food bowl. Our Pet Care Providers step into a pet's normal routine while their family is away—providing companionship, walks, meals, playtime, overnight care, and all of the little things that help pets feel secure in their own homes. You'll become a trusted part of the care our clients rely on and an important part of our growing team. Caring for the pet is only part of what we do. Customer service is a HUGE part of this role as well. Our Pet Care Providers are also caring for the people behind the pets by providing the reassurance and peace of mind that allows them to actually enjoy their time away. That means communicating consistently, sending photos and updates, paying attention to the little things, respecting each client's home, and making sure families feel comfortable and confident in the care their pets are receiving. We want our clients to feel like both their pets and their homes are in genuinely good hands. The majority of our current need is overnight pet sitting, including weekend, multi-day, and week-long stays. We are especially looking for individuals who also have daytime flexibility, as many of our clients have pets who are accustomed to having someone home and prefer that they are not left alone for long stretches during the day. That doesn't mean you'll be confined to a client's home around the clock. Depending on each pet's individual needs, sitters are able to come and go, run errands, attend class, work remotely, take other pet-care appointments, and maintain their normal schedules while making sure the pets in their care receive the companionship, attention, potty breaks, exercise, and routine they need. Because all of our services take place in our clients' homes, there is no single work location. Our clients are located throughout Central Ohio, and we do our best to match bookings based on availability, location, and the best fit for each family and their pets. Duties Provide overnight in-home pet sitting while clients are traveling Provide meaningful daytime companionship and presence based on each pet's individual needs Follow each client's established routine for feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, walks, exercise, playtime, and bedtime Provide medications when needed and when appropriate for the sitter's experience and comfort level Spend genuine quality time with pets rather than simply completing basic care tasks Provide occasional dog walks, drop-in visits, and daytime care as bookings are available Send regular photos and updates so families feel connected to and comfortable with the care their pets are receiving Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and Megan Reed Pet Services throughout each booking Pay attention to changes in a pet's behavior or well-being and promptly communicate any concerns Follow detailed pet-care and household instructions Respect clients' homes, privacy, belongings, and security Keep the home and pet-care areas clean and tidy throughout the booking Bring in mail/packages and complete basic home-care tasks when requested Use good judgment and communicate promptly if an unexpected situation arises Qualifications Genuine comfort and experience caring for dogs and/or cats Overnight availability, including the ability to stay in clients' homes for multi-day and week-long bookings Daytime flexibility is strongly preferred Dependable, punctual, trustworthy, and able to follow through on commitments Strong communication and customer-service skills Good judgment and the ability to work independently Comfortable following detailed pet-care and household instructions Respectful of clients' homes, privacy, and personal property Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to clients throughout the service area Professional pet-care, veterinary, kennel, rescue, farm, or other hands-on animal experience is a plus, but not required Must successfully complete our background screening and reference process Willingness to complete hands-on training before caring for clients independently Schedule & Availability This is a flexible, booking-based position rather than a traditional set weekly schedule. Overnight stays make up the majority of our current need, and bookings may range from a day or weekend to a week or longer. We are especially interested in individuals who have overnight availability combined with daytime flexibility. Because bookings are based on client travel and individual pet-care needs, s chedules will vary. Our business is growing quickly, and we are receiving new inquiries and booking requests regularly. We currently have more requests than our small team can personally accommodate, which is why we are continuing to grow our team. While we cannot guarantee a specific number of bookings or weekly hours, greater availability and flexibility generally allow us to offer you more opportunities. Compensation Pet Care Providers are paid based on the individual bookings they accept. For most bookings, the amount paid by the client is split 70/30, with 70% going directly to the Pet Care Provider. Before accepting a booking, you'll always know the dates, location, care expectations, and exactly what you'll earn. You'll have the opportunity to review each booking and determine whether it works for your schedule before accepting it. Pet Care Providers also keep 100% of any tips they receive.
