Job Description

Federal contractor near Sweetwater, TN is looking for 1st and 2nd shift part-time and full-time dog caretakers. Must be able to handle dogs that are not leash trained, not socialized, and were taken from abusive situations. Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds and be moving on your feet for long periods, and in all weather conditions. This is a physically demanding position. Primary duties include the daily care and welfare of dogs. This includes feeding, watering, bathing, grooming, exercising, disinfecting and repairing holding areas, as well as administering medication as directed by veterinarian instructions. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of animal wound care. Routinely removes excreta from animal holding areas. Uses approved chemical disinfectants, and cleaning equipment, including concrete scrubbers, commercial vacuums, wet mops, dishwashers, and laundry machines. Observes and reports changes in animal behavior or health status and maintains records in support of these activities. Assists in animal enrichment programs. Participates in disposition and adoptions. The role of the dog caretaker requires a strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The position also serves as a member of a national federal law enforcement animal team requiring travel for 2-3 days per month within the continental U.S. and its Territories. Applicants must be able to travel with limited advance notice. Travel locations may include the handling of unfriendly or scared dogs, photography, videography, and on scene evidence collection support. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record; must be at least 18 years old. Employment is subject to favorable criminal background check.
