Our Horse Handlers ensure the well-being of both participants and horses through daily care, exercise, and support. Working closely with instructors and volunteers, they help create a safe, structured environment where individuals can grow and thrive. At NDR, we believe in the horse-human connection to inspire confidence, independence, and healing. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Qualifications & Experience:
We require a minimum of 2 years' experience handling and caring for horses in a professional setting. A strong understanding of equine behavior, Ability to recognize signs of discomfort, lameness, or illness in horses. Experience with grooming, tacking, leading, and exercising horses. Prior experience in a therapeutic riding or equine-assisted activities program is a plus. Reliable transportation and punctuality. Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for both horses and participants. Must be available for up to 20 hours a week.
Availability Requirement:
Applicants must be available to work Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays . Must clear a TB test along with a Federal live scan background check.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong horse-handling skills with an emphasis on safety and patience. Ability to follow specific care routines and protocols. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with instructors, volunteers, and participants. Ability to adapt to changing situations and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Physical fitness and stamina to meet the demands of the job, including lifting up to 75 lbs, prolonged standing, walking, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 25.0 per week Application Question(s): Will you be able to pass a federal live scan background check and TB Test due to working around children?
