Part-Time Kennel Technician Nexus K9 | Southeast Bulloch County, near

Starting at $13 per hour, with starting rate based on experience Nexus K9 is hiring a dependable, hardworking kennel technician to support our training, daycare, and boarding programs. The ideal candidate is confident handling dogs, takes direction well, and consistently maintains high standards of care, cleanliness, and safety. This is a very physically demanding position. Daily work involves extensive walking, lifting, cleaning, and handling dogs, with a substantial portion of the day spent outdoors. Applicants should be comfortable with sustained physical activity and understand that this role involves much more than spending time with dogs. We prefer candidates with at least two years of professional experience as a kennel technician , but we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Safely handling dogs of all sizes, energy levels, and temperaments, including dogs with behavioral challenges. Following strict handling standards, individual care plans, and safety procedures at all times. Supervising dog social groups, recognizing signs of stress or escalating behavior, and responding according to established protocols. Providing exercise, enrichment, and structured activities as directed. Transporting dogs in a company van, including safely loading, unloading, and securing dogs for travel. Feeding dogs, providing fresh water, and following individual feeding instructions. Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, crates, vehicles, equipment, and common areas. Picking up dog waste, handling soiled bedding, and maintaining clean outdoor spaces. Monitoring dogs for changes in appetite, behavior, health, or comfort and promptly reporting concerns. Maintaining accurate care records and communicating important information to team members. Checking gates, doors, crates, and equipment to prevent escapes and injuries. Reporting incidents, equipment problems, and safety concerns immediately. Completing opening, closing, and other assigned duties thoroughly and on time. Qualifications and Expectations Must be at least 18 years old . Must have open availability , including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Must be available to work 15-30 hours per week , with hours varying based on scheduling and business needs. Must have reliable transportation to our facility in Southeast Bulloch County, near Ellabell . Must be able to prioritize scheduled shifts and arrange personal commitments to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality . Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, with no traffic tickets or at-fault accidents within the past three years . Must be able to safely operate a company van while transporting dogs. Must arrive on time and be ready to work at the start of each shift. Must follow written and verbal instructions, accept constructive feedback, and apply training consistently. Must remain calm and attentive around barking, excited dogs, and challenging situations. Must work effectively independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate attention to detail and complete tasks without cutting corners. Must ask for assistance when a situation exceeds their training or ability. Must treat every dog with patience and respect and use only approved handling methods. Must maintain professional communication with coworkers and clients. Physical Demands and Working Conditions This position requires sustained physical effort throughout each shift.

Applicants should be prepared for:

Walking at least four miles daily , including across outdoor and uneven terrain. Lifting and carrying at least 75 pounds , using appropriate lifting practices and assistance when needed. Spending most of the shift standing, walking, and actively working. Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting, and repetitive cleaning tasks. Safely managing large, strong, energetic dogs that may pull or move unexpectedly. Working outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, and rain , while following weather-related safety procedures. Exposure to loud barking, dog hair, dander, dirt, cleaning products, urine, and feces. Employees must follow safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and promptly report unsafe conditions. Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
