This position will be primarily based at our location in Rome, GA , where the majority of the role involves providing hands-on care, supervision, and enrichment for dogs staying with us for daycare and overnight vacations. The position will also require support at our administrative and client-facing location in Marietta, GA , so applicants must be comfortable traveling between Rome and Marietta. Our goal is to create a safe, clean, peaceful, and fun environment where dogs can enjoy their vacation while maintaining a routine that feels as close to home as possible. The ideal candidate genuinely loves dogs and is comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, personalities, and energy levels. Provide fresh water throughout the day and monitor dogs' eating and drinking habits. Administer medications when required and according to written instructions. Provide basic grooming and hygiene care when necessary, including cleaning paws, brushing, and keeping dogs comfortable and clean. Engage dogs in play, exercise, enrichment activities, and individual attention throughout the day. Assist dogs with settling down for naps, quiet time, and overnight rest. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by cleaning play areas, sleeping areas, feeding stations, bowls, floors, yards, equipment, and other spaces used by the dogs. Regularly inspect indoor and outdoor areas for potential safety hazards. Observe dogs carefully for changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, energy level, bathroom habits, or other potential health concerns and immediately report concerns to management. Follow established procedures for dog introductions, feeding, medications, emergencies, and other care routines. Help prepare photos, videos, and information that may be used for daily updates to pet parents. Assist with pickup, drop-off, and transportation of dogs between locations when required. Assist with basic administrative, organizational, and customer-service activities at our Marietta location when needed. Communicate clearly with other team members regarding each dog's routine, behavior, health, and special instructions. Help maintain an organized, welcoming, and professional environment for dogs, clients, and team members. Be willing to assist with other reasonable responsibilities as the business grows and operational needs evolve. Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with dog handling, pet sitting, dog daycare, boarding, veterinary care, animal shelters, grooming, or similar animal-care environments is preferred. Genuine love for dogs and a compassionate approach to animal care. Comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, ages, temperaments, and energy levels . Ability to recognize basic canine body language and behavioral signals. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow individual feeding, medication, and care instructions accurately. Ability to remain calm and make responsible decisions when dealing with unexpected situations. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dependable and punctual, with the ability to follow established schedules and procedures. Comfortable working independently when necessary. Willingness to clean and perform the physical tasks associated with caring for multiple dogs. Ability to safely lift dogs, food bags, supplies, equipment, and other reasonably heavy items when necessary. Comfortable spending significant portions of the workday standing, walking, bending, cleaning, and working outdoors . Comfortable working in different weather conditions when supervising dogs outdoors. Good customer-service skills and a friendly, professional attitude when interacting with pet parents. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while remaining patient and attentive. Must be comfortable traveling between Rome and Marietta, GA , when required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are strongly preferred. What We're Looking For We are especially interested in people who are proactive and responsible . Working with dogs means that every day can be different. We value team members who notice when something needs to be done and take initiative rather than waiting to be asked. We also believe that a strong team communicates openly and focuses on solutions. When a problem arises, we expect team members to communicate the concern clearly and, whenever possible, help identify reasonable solutions . Above all, the safety and well-being of the dogs in our care always come first. About Dog Friends Dog Friends was created around a simple idea: dogs should be able to enjoy their vacation too.
