Job Description

Job Summary Trenton-Dade Animal Center (TDAC) is looking for a dedicated Kennel Technician to support our team. This is a part-time position responsible for providing daily care, enrichment, and support for the animals housed at TDAC. This role directly supports shelter operations by maintaining clean kennels, feeding and walking dogs, ensuring accurate medical and behavioral documentation, and assisting with intakes. Key Responsibilities Walk, exercise, and socialize each dog daily Create enrichment lick mats for dogs Clean kennels, animal areas, and common workspaces according to sanitation protocols Feed animals according to assigned feeding schedules and dietary requirements Monitor and report any changes in health or behavior Assist with laundry, dishes, and general facility organization and cleanliness Keep inventory updated with all supplies Maintain accurate records of medical treatments, behavior notes, and training progress Assist with intake procedures and logging information Assist with transporting animals, supplies, or donations as needed Provide professional customer service to volunteers, adopters, and community members Assist with adoption meet-and-greets Administer vaccines, medications, and basic medical care under supervision Perform other shelter-related duties assigned by the Shelter Director Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks for extended periods Comfortable working around animals of all sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions Willingness to learn and strictly follow shelter protocols, animal handling, and medical procedures Must be able to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment Prior experience in animal sheltering, veterinary care, or dog handling (not required) Knowledge of animal behavior or training techniques This role involves exposure to loud noise, strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and unpredictable animal behavior. Work is both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Monday-Friday:
5pm-8pm Saturdays (Mandatory): 8:30am-11am, 5:30pm-8pm Occasional 8:30am-3pm (with lunch break)
