LEVEL 1 PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINER

Precision Dog Training Academy is looking for a motivated, experienced Level 1 Professional Dog Trainer who is ready to step into a dynamic training environment and immediately become part of our team. This is not an entry-level apprenticeship position. We are looking for individuals who already have a foundation in professional dog training and want the opportunity to sharpen their skills, work with a wide variety of dogs and clients, and continue developing as professional trainers. If you have at least six months of professional dog training experience and are ready for the next step in your career, we want to hear from you.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Level 1 Dog Trainer at Precision Dog Training Academy, you will work directly with dogs and their owners across several of our professional training programs. Trainers will have the opportunity to work in: Private dog training sessions Board & Train programs Group obedience classes Basic and intermediate obedience training Leash manners and real-world training Client education and coaching Training plan implementation Canine enrichment and structured activities Our trainers don't just train dogs. They teach owners how to communicate with their dogs, recognize canine behavior and body language, establish expectations, and maintain training at home.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Level 1 Trainer, you will: Conduct professional private training sessions with dogs and their owners Train dogs enrolled in our Board & Train programs Lead and assist with group training classes Evaluate dogs and identify appropriate training goals Implement structured training plans based on each dog's needs Teach foundational and intermediate obedience skills Work with dogs in controlled real-world environments and around distractions Coach owners on proper handling, communication, and training techniques Observe and interpret canine body language and behavior Track and communicate training progress Maintain professional communication with clients and fellow trainers Follow Precision Dog Training Academy's training, handling, safety, and animal-care standards Participate in continuing education and professional development
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who wants more than simply a job working around dogs. We're looking for someone who wants to become a better professional dog trainer. The ideal candidate is confident in handling dogs, comfortable communicating with clients, coachable, dependable, and excited about being part of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least six months of professional dog training experience is required.
Candidates should also have:
Hands-on experience training dogs Understanding of basic obedience and canine behavior Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to canine body language Strong dog-handling and leash-handling skills Excellent communication and customer-service skills Ability to confidently teach and coach dog owners Ability to follow established training programs and protocols Strong attention to safety and detail Ability to work both independently and as part of a training team Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Professional attitude and appearance Professional dog-training certifications such as CPDT-KA or similar credentials are welcomed but are not required.
SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Applicants must have flexible availability and be willing to work: Weekdays Evenings Weekends Additional hours as operationally needed Because our clients and dogs require care and training throughout the week, schedule flexibility is an important part of this position.
COMPENSATION
$45,000•60,000 annually Compensation within the range will be based on the candidate's experience, demonstrated training ability, professional credentials, client communication skills, and overall ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
