Philadelphia metropolitan area and surrounding communities Uncle Tony's Reptile Show is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable presenter to lead interactive wildlife programs at schools, camps, libraries, private parties, festivals, and community events. This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. You'll travel to scheduled events with live animals and lead entertaining, educational presentations designed to get audiences excited about reptiles and wildlife. We provide training, so extensive reptile experience is not required. We're especially interested in applicants who are confident speaking to groups, enjoy working with children, and can bring energy and personality to a presentation. The Role As a Wildlife Educator, you'll be responsible for: Presenting interactive reptile and wildlife programs Speaking confidently to groups of children and adults Sharing interesting animal facts in an entertaining and understandable way Handling and displaying animals safely during programs Encouraging audience participation and answering questions Loading, transporting, and organizing animals and presentation supplies Communicating professionally with teachers, parents, camp staff, and event coordinators Following company procedures for animal welfare, handling, and guest safety Who Does Well in This Position? We're looking for someone who is personable, responsible, and comfortable being the center of attention. You may be a great fit if you have experience with: Education or tutoring Summer camps Theater, acting, improv, or entertainment Public speaking Children's programs Animal care or husbandry Zoos, nature centers, or environmental education Previous reptile experience is helpful but not required. We're happy to train the right person who has strong communication skills and is eager to learn.
Requirements Applicants must:
Be 18 years of age or older Have a valid driver's license Have dependable transportation Be willing to drive to events throughout the region Be physically capable of carrying animals, enclosures, and presentation equipment Be comfortable handling animals after completing training Be dependable and punctual Have weekend availability, with some weekday availability preferred Live within reasonable driving distance of the Philadelphia metropolitan area Pay & Scheduling Starting compensation of $75 per presentation Additional compensation for qualifying travel, including mileage, tolls, and drive time Opportunities for performance-based bonuses Flexible, event-based scheduling Weekday and weekend opportunities Higher event volume is typically available during the summer This position can work particularly well for students, performers, educators, animal-care professionals, or anyone seeking flexible supplemental work. Your resume A short 1-3 minute video of yourself introducing an animal and sharing a few interesting facts about it. Be energetic and exciting. Pretend there is an audience of excited 8 year olds in front of you. You do not need access to a live animal. You may use a pet, stuffed animal, toy, photograph, or fictional creature. We're primarily interested in seeing your personality, enthusiasm, communication ability, creativity, and comfort presenting to an audience. A cover letter is optional.
